Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by silvermyn on Nov 25, 2008 15:28:43 GMT 1, Banksy X POW could probably crash Fairq as well... Ive never got a print from fairq or BRP but for some reason i have from POW. No tricks, just at work F5ing... Im still worried about this release however as i havent heard anything to date apart from my confirmation emails and the cash that is still out of my account.
I know it's only a minor point but a lot of us have to do work when we come into the office. Not everyone can afford to sit at work pressing the F5 key every 2 seconds for hours on end. I like buying new prints but I'd rather not loose my job over one!
I'd dearly love for POW to use fairq on the next Banksy release so I can get on with my life rather than contributing to crashing their website. IMO bring on fairq!!!

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by Rsyok on Nov 25, 2008 15:59:02 GMT 1, Bump for today Official statement from POW regarding the release:
We would like to apologise to the people who received a refund on Thursday. Our database was overwhelmed with people adding to basket at exactly the same time & a small number of prints were allocated twice. The small number of prints that became available on Friday were related to something else & clearly those prints should never have been made available. As a result all of those orders on Friday have now been refunded. We extend our apologies to those customers as well. We have been able to to re-allocate all the prints from Friday's refunds & prints destined for Ebay sellers to customers who were refunded on Thursday. We hope to cover all the people who were refunded Thursday but if we don't they will be offered the opportunity to buy a Banksy print in the future. We thank you for your continued support & understanding. Best regards Simon@picturesonwalls.com
I was just going to post a thread 'Why doesnt POW post on forums?' it would save them a lot of work take a lot of 'heat' out of the forums. Laz, BRP & Stella Dore etc.etc all utilise posts effectively. Just a suggestion if you are reading, it may even stop the open day turning into an IKEA style massacre.

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by welshboy on Nov 25, 2008 17:32:11 GMT 1, I got a print on friday which i bought in good faith.I feel all the buyers that were refunded be it thursday or friday should be offered the exact same deal! I have emailed dora twice and as of yet have not had a reply,if i was not a member then i would have no clue as to whats going on and would have had to take time off work in order to sign for the print. POW should put something on the web site just to let people know whats happening.

do you win the lottery often, because that is what a POW fair Q would be like 100,000 registered applicants after 289 prints, seem like long odds to me silvermyn

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by spenie1975 on Nov 25, 2008 18:01:40 GMT 1, im not sure why some cant get a respnose from p.o.w i find they always respond in a matter of hours? i have got 2 emails today from them? Bought 2 Banksy's from POW both framed up(as seen in the framed section). So thats not the reason, not emailed since the response to my order being duplicated and cancelled. Just waiting for them to get in touch. Counted 10 still available on ebay, looks like they may have sneaked through.

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by ecb on Nov 25, 2008 18:09:29 GMT 1, Maybe they are getting the orders that didnt have any issues packaged and out the door. Didn't someone say they will be shipping soon and UK peeps should start seeing them by weeks end? Getting all the "good" orders out may be first priority to them right now. Than, whats left will be dealt out. We just need to sit tight and wait patiently.

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by Ruggs on Nov 25, 2008 18:11:41 GMT 1, The whole thing is a lottery. It's just the FairQ system is straight-forward and simple to employ. The same amount of people will try to get a Banksy whatever the means. FairQ is tidy and more efficient and would certainly stop all this debacle. It seems the F5ers don't like this system because it lessens there control of whether they get one or not. Yes, we'll all be on tender hooks waiting to see if we've got one using the FairQ system... but I don't see the kind of lash up this latest Nola release has caused.

I wish mate
Not sure where you're getting your 100,000 figure from (thin air perhaps) but administratively fairq is cleaner and everyone has the same chance of getting a print.
I've applied for Faile prints in both fairq lotteries and got lucky once. Prior to that I was F5ing with everyone else and got sent a Hits and Misses print.
Prefer the one I won on fairq

Cryptic!
Does this mean an opportunity to participate in another bun fight or a cast iron guarantee that a new print will be offered to those individuals via the back door...

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by redfred on Nov 25, 2008 18:35:38 GMT 1, What I fail to grasp is the bit about " the prints that became available on Friday were related to something else and clearly those prints should never have been made available" Whats clear about that? What were they related to? I consider I was shafted on Thursday but the ones who lost out on Friday even more so! I would hate to think if I was offered a print(which I am starting to doubt) that it came from somebody who was shafted on Friday!

What were they related to? I consider I was shafted on Thursday but the ones who lost out on Friday even more so! I would hate to think if I was offered a print(which I am starting to doubt) that it came from somebody who was shafted on Friday!
I think that might be reading a bit too much into the statement (although I agree it could be clearer) as it goes on to say all the Friday prints were reallocated to Thursday buyers. What I think they mean is that Friday's "release" was a stock control error as the run was sold out almost immediately on Thursday.
I also suspect that concerns about whether it's a cast iron guarantee of a future Banksy print purchase or mere opportunity to buy are (hopefully) misplaced. After all we all have an opportunity (however slim!) to buy so that would be no compensation at all for those who have suffered the refund issue this time. The opportunity has to be some kind of priority or else it's an empty statement.
And as someone who failed to bag one completely and utterly on both days I say all this with no smugness whatsoever.

I thought the Friday release was of the prints that had been removed from ebay or had card denials etc

I'd prefer to keep the current checkout system. Pure speculation, but if they move to FairQ, is there to force lottery entrants to make a $1000 deposit? There should be.
but administratively fairq is cleaner and everyone has the same chance of getting a print. I wouldn't say that, the system is wide open to abuse, it's all too easy to get family members, friends, etc, to register on your behalf. I'd prefer to keep the current checkout system. Try getting family members, friends, etc to stump up a ยฃ500 deposit.
Me thinks you would have less takers than you imagine.
