I think there is only one piece by cept (who I really like) and it was one of those black and white female lucy mc type fantasy pieces he does.It looked great in the flesh but i prefer his more pop art stuff.

Stella Dore Gallery โข Steph Warren, by dslug on Jul 18, 2008 7:41:54 GMT 1, Good show last night,I think it was a brave decision to try something like this in Dublin because Im not sure what people here are going to make of it all and wheather the various works will be snapped up locally or not.
Eines work looked great,as I said here earlier I was not a fan simply because there are too many other things I would like to buy but in the gallery setting his work was vibrant and punchy and really stood out.I have a greater appreciation for his work now because before I thought he was a bit of a one trick pony.
Personally I liked the Joe Black joker made with ball bearings,it really needs to be viewed from a bit of a distance to get a clearer picture of the whole piece.Its basically the joker from batman made up of hundreds of small ball bearings with some batman type words like pow!! Bang!! etc
I liked Twinkle Troughtons piece,her humour always makes me smile when I look at her stuff on the Stella Dore website.I dont know much about the processes of using illustrator in the making of a piece like hers and wheather or not it is simple or difficult but the canvas looked great,well composed and well executed and it doesnt hurt that she was standing beside it and she is absolutely gorgeous (so is tinsel)
The miss bugs stuff on aluminium seemed to be good value at around ยฃ800,Im not sure what price their stuff at ink_d was but it seemed to be more expensive and also given the price of some of their prints I thought someone who is a fan of miss bugs would be happy with an original at this price.
Sweet toofs piece is a diptych painted on two halves of an old trunk/suitcase.It is a tall skeleton and a smaller side kick with the trademark mouths.My personal opinion on him and his work is that he has talent and ought to do well careerwise I guess its just about how fresh he can keep things but from what I could see he most certainly can paint.
Chu has a 3d piece that needed to be viewed with 3d specs,It worked for me and I liked it more than I expected but I cant see it hanging in my house.
Rugmans work is crisp and clean,im not a big fan of his clown images but the canvas there last night was pretty faultless and I was way more impressed with it than I expected......I still have to come around to the clown thing though.
Eelus's work is a bit dark for me,I cant see my kids enjoying what was on offer if it were hung in the house but I believe one of his canvasses was the first to sell.He also did a large version of his cans piece in Dublin which I think anewspace is going to post a photo of later.
I'll def go back for a closer look before it closes.
I believe the price list and photos are available today through stella dore if you want to see the work.
