Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by frank11 on Dec 16, 2008 12:29:54 GMT 1, Pud i wish i had your self control. I know as soon as i get a sniff of the next release i will be sitting in front of the PC, hitting F5 like an idiot. Probably to no avail
I have also had a similar run of luck last print i was able to process an order for was Grannies. However was helped by a member this time last year to buy a S&S. Thank you again Anthoz!!!!
I just think it is us as collectors that are fuelling the flipping by buying in the secondry market within days of a release. Simple supply and demand. Take the demand away price will drop.
Surely on mass we can affect a change

Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by motor on Dec 16, 2008 12:47:46 GMT 1, POW try their best and no one has a right to own one. Having had some contact with Sight Savers in West Africa I would say a lot of peope will have a much better Christmas than you or I thanks to Dora and the crew.
Well said JB
POW really can't win can they. It was allegedly unfair when they were all released at the london event. Then it was allegedly unfair because they released things when the US was asleep. So they correct all of this and it is still allegedly unfair and people allegedly had an unfair advantage. The bottom line is that these are very limited print releases where demand far outstrips supply. Whatever method POW use people will be unhappy.
So true Pez
So get back in to your caves and stop b**ching about nothing!!!

Problem is, the 'true' art fans are the ones buying from the flippers, surely no one is buying a Nola for ยฃ2k(ish) and expecting to make a profit!!?? No, they are buying to own and display, I would just feel like the bloke who sold it to me was taking the piss out of me and laughing all the way to the bank!

Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by lostplotter on Dec 16, 2008 13:03:11 GMT 1, I feel exactly the same as you PUD, the people who are buying at these prices are hanging on walls, and not in it for profit.
I look at these things on the Bay, but just can't bring myself to buy from these people. I wait in vain and hope that prices will eventually drop
I find it a quite depressing really, but at the end of the day this behaviour happens in all walks of life.

Yes mate, just happened to be in the right place at the right time, f5 and missed VLH went over to Micallef and scored a Bethlehem!
I wanted the Banksy as I have a spot in my office especially for it, but the print of the POW open weekend was without doubt Bethlehem! I didn't take to it much online but it looked great on the ticket stall!

Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by alsbabar on Dec 16, 2008 13:11:10 GMT 1, i would dearly loved to have won/bought a VLH, so dont get me wrong with my comments - what i dont get however is, since it became a print, it has become an iconic image. I mean this image has been around for nearly 9 months, and really not much discussion has cropped up about it - in polls or when you have the obligatory "Banksy's best image" poll, this featured nowhere on any list. So what qualifies a Banksy piece to become iconic - does it have to become a print to do so?

Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by dmandpenfold on Dec 16, 2008 13:19:32 GMT 1, ask the question in a few weeks or months. Time was when trolleys was going to be the best and the one everyone was waiting for, yet it seems this opinion waned, dont get me wrong i like it, but it's not the best.... morons for me was going to be an average release, in reality it's a fantastic image.

Cheers J, I had the other Micallef in my basket as well, didn't want it personally, was just gonna buy and sell at cost to someone on here who missed it, but to be honest with you the abuse I got when I did the same with Eelus, just wasn't worth it!
Dropped it in the end and just bought the Bethlehem!

Straight swap for CWSB is what I would ideally like, they both cost the same!!

You have to own it and talk it up as being an iconic image.
Thats basically all that happens on here.
If you dont own it, then you usually find fault with it.
Example, VLH is a small print. The girl in Nola looks weird and so on.
ps - As a "framed" owner of stop and search, imo it is the most iconic Banksy image ever made. Everything else is rubbish. Fact.

Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by G-Man on Dec 16, 2008 13:28:56 GMT 1, I would clearly have loved to bag a VLH but missed out and missed out on NOLA too
Personally I'm not sure that i would like to have had a Tescos carrier bag on my wall and think that this bag will limit its iconic nature but I am often wrong
Out of the 2 the NOLA is the better image and story

Spot on! It's one of the first things I learnt when I got involved in collecting.
From now on, everyone should include a footnote in every post stating whether they own the piece of art they are commenting on (a disclaimer if you like). A pattern will soon emergeโฆ

Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by Happy Shopper on Dec 16, 2008 13:39:33 GMT 1, I know I shouldn't care, I have no right to buy over anyone else, but I spoke to someone senior at PoW yesterday and was told that no more VLH were available. All sold. I can't believe what I'm reading here! It's really pissed me off... if it's true that some were available!?
