Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by Partyfoodprincess on Dec 16, 2008 13:42:41 GMT 1, I also spoke to POW.... 1. All the raffle/lotto ticket ones were gone yesterday. 2. Banksy asked for some to be made available online. A handful were. 3. They are all gone, lotto online GONE.
Oooh. That feels better.
(Still want one though)

Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by hupster on Dec 16, 2008 13:43:54 GMT 1, You have to own it and talk it up as being an iconic image. Thats basically all that happens on here. If you dont own it, then you usually find fault with it. Example, VLH is a small print. The girl in Nola looks weird and so on. ps - As a "framed" owner of stop and search, imo it is the most iconic Banksy image ever made. Everything else is rubbish. Fact. Spot on! It's one of the first things I learnt when I got involved in collecting. From now on, everyone should include a footnote in every post stating whether they own the piece of art they are commenting on (a disclaimer if you like). A pattern will soon emergeโฆ
LOVE "because im wortless" rat but sadly never owned it. This is my goal to get one of these. Not even bothered if its signed just love the image which makes me smile everytime i look at one.

Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by DYL4N on Dec 16, 2008 13:48:26 GMT 1, I know I shouldn't care, I have no right to buy over anyone else, but I spoke to someone senior at PoW yesterday and was told that no more VLH were available. All sold. I can't believe what I'm reading here! It's really pissed me off... if it's true that some were available!?
Believe me they were available i got the add to basket button 3 times between 12-1am wasnt quick enough though, dont reckon there could have been anymore than 20! Got a bethlehem, so chuffed anyway :-)

Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by Partyfoodprincess on Dec 16, 2008 13:49:10 GMT 1, I have, in all honesty, stopped.
I believe POW when they say they are gone; I missed the 'silly o clock' drop and I'm gutted.
This print is ace, congrats to all who shall treasure her, balls to all those who have got them to flip.
(still tempted to f5 - will power required to leave seat is immense)

I'll break the trend. I have a nola and trolleys, and think Stop and Search is a much better image. VLH does nothing for me.

Banksy "Very Little Helps" Print, by Prescription Art on Dec 16, 2008 13:52:53 GMT 1, i would dearly loved to have won/bought a VLH, so dont get me wrong with my comments - what i dont get however is, since it became a print, it has become an iconic image. I mean this image has been around for nearly 9 months, and really not much discussion has cropped up about it - in polls or when you have the obligatory "Banksy's best image" poll, this featured nowhere on any list. So what qualifies a Banksy piece to become iconic - does it have to become a print to do so?
Some street pieces have been very well reproduced as prints, some not so well. Personally I like the ones with a bright background (Love is in the Air is my favourite), and I don't think many other recent prints have had the same impact due to having white or dull backgrounds.
I prefer NOLA on the street, but think VLH looks to be a better print.

seems a fair swap they are listing them for sale, before even receiving them, and I am offering to buy, before having the money to do so

Of course you're going to get more discussion when when something becomes a print. That's a no brainer. As for me I agree that for any piece to become iconic you need to wait a while and look back on it in a few years time, not now. LN, Kate and Rats a are iconic for me and I don't own any of them. For me VLH is the best piece in a long time because of the execution, style message and history of the piece. It says Banksy from the distance. Going back to 2006 (mind you I am not a critic - just a simpleton and I DO like all of them however some more, some less than the others). Grannies - great but too pink. Applause - fantastic however photocopy. Morons - great message but not the execution. Trolleys - one of the best from these but something not right about composition. S&S - basically drawing, Nola - great although doesn't work as good as being outside.
NOte. All the description above were made very brief just to simplify the things why I consider the VLH one of his best in a long time

15 prints for 350,000,000 americans seems like a pretty fair acknowledgement to me they must value your business highly

That's alright, my bet is soon Mr. B will be moving to the States... Brooklyn probably and we will be enjoying his works on this side of the pond for years to come. London has been played out. They either tear down his art to put it up on EBay or they have city council meetings to discuss whether or not they will paint over his works. If I were him i'd be sick of that crap.

They know the state of the US economy. 15 is about as many as they're likely to sell there.
