- Money in the Bank or a Micallef on the Wall - I'd back Micallef to better that hefty 1.5% on your savings right now & given the money I'd be buying as many prints as I could - Doesn't hurt that it's a tad better looking than an ISA application brochure either

But I am not sure I agree with you there ron...is flipping solely a price issue?

I think a lot of people bought these Open Day prints expecting to get a quick win -

**MICALLEF Bethlehem £450 London**, by Guest on Mar 18, 2009 12:54:49 GMT 1, I dont get your point?
If this guy needs to sell, for whatever reason, and decides to sell below cost this can not be described as flipping. That's all i am saying.

Best of luck with the sale.

**MICALLEF Bethlehem £450 London**, by uglyiq on Mar 18, 2009 18:45:30 GMT 1, Just to clarify - Since 2003 when I started collecting Banksy & Urban Art I have never bought a print with the intention to sell it on quickly at a profit (or otherwise as the case may be) - Doesn't sit comfortably with me, karma I guess, just one recent example I had a preview ticket for recent Design Centre Art Fair & of course there was the opportunity to grab a Nick Walker but as I'm not a fan or a flipper I don't have one to sell right now.
That's not to say that I haven't sold any of the prints I've bought, I have, quite a few, and bought quite a few more - I'm not a static collector, things come and go, I don't hoard stuff or like prints sat around in portfolios, if they don't make the wall they often get sold - I sometimes get carried away and buy impulsively (not alone in that!) Sometimes buy beyond my means (as is the case with 'Bethlehem') Sometimes buy a block of prints by a single Artist & live with them all for a while before deciding which are the keepers and which I'll pass on (bought 8 x Ian Francis & kept 4 and in early 2003/4 POW days bought 8 x Banksy and kept 4) - In an ideal world we'd all get to see the art we wanted to buy in the flesh and have a while to mull it over instead of spending 100's of pounds on a snap-decision low-res online screenshot image - Can hardly be a surprise that this doesn't always work out.
Having said that I did see Bethlehem in the flesh and did have 48hrs to mull it over c/o POW which should be applauded, what I didn't have was the money, or that steady an income since October, so now I'd like to sell it and pay some bills - If that is objectionable to some people or 'not in the spirit' of what they consider a 'true' collector then fair enough - But having come this far please excuse me if I have a little blow on my own trumpet - I'm by no means wealthy (my annual wage never having exceeded my age at the time) don't own a car or a house or even much in the way of furniture, but having plowed the best part of the small income I did have into art, and timed it well in retrospect, I have a small but adored collection - Is that such a bad thing ?
PS - appreciate the comments of support, didn't realise I was putting my head on the block with this one
