Banksy - Go Flock Yourself, by jonpud on Feb 12, 2009 10:58:46 GMT 1, one's done a stencil that would sit happily in the background of play school...the other a pun, that's half decent there's no doubt Nick has skills, unfortunately the vandal series does leave him open to alot of criticism purely because it's now verrrrry tired and flogging a dead horse comes to mind social commentary is B's field, Walker likes his graf but needs to find his stride again - ghetto ghost is still head and shoulders his best work but reading above that B has done some 'poorly executed' stencils doesn't sit well with me - apart from dolk I'm hard push to think of anyone who executes stencils as well as him
Fair and balanced opinion that I can't argue with! And I wasn't reffering to ALL Banksy's stencil work!

Banksy - Go Flock Yourself, by jonpud on Feb 12, 2009 11:06:21 GMT 1, I judge each piece of art on it's own merit and let's face it the Banksy and the Walker for this auction are both very poor and half hearted. The worrying thing is that these are two of the biggest names in the scene and this is quite a high profile charity auction. If you knew nothing about Urban/Street art and saw these 2 pieces would you be converted?
Agree totally!! Not a good advert!!

Banksy - Go Flock Yourself, by ratboy on Feb 12, 2009 11:18:58 GMT 1, Is the photo of the Banksy on the BBC site the whole canvas or is it a close up?

Banksy - Go Flock Yourself, by robinbanks on Feb 12, 2009 13:58:39 GMT 1, Some people really do have it in for Nick Walker, don't they.
Did he shag all your wives/girlfriends in the bogs at the last BRP show?
Seriously - using a thread about a Banksy canvas to have a pop at NW?? What's that about?
Personally I don't think Nick's TMA series has grown tired at all. Just like I don't think Monet's studies of sunlight and haystacks grew tired (before anyone starts I'm not comparing Walker to Monet).
On the subject of "Girafitti" - it's obviously not his best by some margain, but I bet it doesn't bomb like some of you are predicting. Nick clearly has mass appeal - his art is very accessible and because of that it crosses over into the mainstream (maybe that's what his detractors have a problem with). With that in mind I could quite easily see a few bidders, possibly with more money than sense, who want a piece of the "urban art" action taking a shine to that daft great giraffe.
