TMA'S will Vanish., by cashman on Feb 9, 2009 2:49:44 GMT 1, There is no reason why the TMA series needs to be limited to cities. Taking other icons and using appropriately coloured paint would work perfectly well. Thinking that the TMA series is played out is wrong, it's a theme that can be used and developed for a long time yet (and I hope it will be). In that regard I keep coming back to the Kline and Warhol as the two most obvious exponents of developing a theme within a style. The question is whether Nick Walker can do this, and if he can I'll keep buying his work.
After seeing 'Giraffite' he probably has no choice

I think in the TMA series he has hit a style that works but I'm not sure that his heart isn't more in the street work. In right street setting the giraffite would work well.

TMA'S will Vanish., by rrrich on Feb 9, 2009 18:46:51 GMT 1, i really liked tma tokyo, one of my favs at the last show and so detailed. much prefered it to NYC and would love to see it as a print. agree tho, there has to be some balance rather than just flogging the tma series as much as he can (not saying he has already).

Of course not. The art is in the composition and what can be bought to the image by the artist. You have only to look at the pop artists, or back to the abstract expressionists to see what can be done within an apparently limited theme. For the most part they stuck within a very tight theme and style.

TMA'S will Vanish., by junkieart on Feb 23, 2009 23:45:17 GMT 1, Is the Taj Mahal not beautiful? I personally think its time for something different. just imo. i do like Nicks work but the work at the latest BRP looked at bit tired to me. I personally loved his credit crunch piece at the Big Issue show. Clever and very different. Anyway look forward to seeing his next ideas.
