Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by monkeyart on Jul 28, 2009 21:16:17 GMT 1, We had a good laugh with the folks around us, same interest etc. I was surprised the different age range of people there, the lovely lady in front of us must have been 60 ish (to be polite:-)) she was local and didn't really know much about Mr B but had read about the exhibition in a local newspaper and was excited about it as much as me and the missus (good job with had the anoraks, as it was raining :-)) Def worth the wait.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by monkeyballs on Jul 28, 2009 22:05:38 GMT 1, I would be surprised, thats a lot of money going to good causes and its hard to stop cos I am sure the feeling must be amazing to make that difference to people's lives. I'm sure that would override any depression on anoraks.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by topper007 on Jul 29, 2009 10:21:33 GMT 1, Can't see it happening.
Even Banksy needs to keep the brand in the public consciousness (by which I mean beyond just the confines of this exalted forum (or the anoraks as the OP would say)). Assuming for the sake of argument that he doesn't care one bit about the commercial side and his art's all about the message, that message still has more impact if you reach a bigger audience. The prints help do that.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by rowan on Jul 29, 2009 10:36:54 GMT 1, If he didn't care about the commercial side of things then would he really be charging £465 for what is esentially a glorified poster?
I know it doesn't cost £465 to produce a screen print and i understand that the money goes to good causes etc, but this price is reflected against 'current market value' and as a result of which the price has been influenced by commercialisim!
I know i can't afford to pay £1500+ for a 2nd own'd print and at the moment i'd struggle to find the £500 for a Glazed print, but i will pull the money from somewhere..

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by topper007 on Jul 29, 2009 11:13:51 GMT 1, Yes, which is why I said "assuming for the sake of argument". I don't actually believe for one minute that the artist, gallery etc. don't care about the commercial side of print releases - and that's not a criticism before anyone accuses me of heresy.
So that's yet another reason why it's unlikely that there will be be no more BAnksy print releases - which was the original question if I'm not mistaken.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by sharesdjc on Jul 29, 2009 11:49:49 GMT 1, Just spoke to the museum about getting some official postcards. It seems that the banksy team were unhappy with the print quality so have stopped further printing of the postcards. As far as I can make out only one batch was delivered which sold out in about a week. However they said that the postcards will be replaced with "something else" but they are not sure what.
BTW the guy selling exhibition postcards on ebay is probably selling repros as he has sold 37 packs and there is no way the museum shop would have let anyone buy that many...not that they would be any different of course but its nice to have the real deal isn't it!

I wouldn't be so sure that the ones on ebay are repros. He had the postcards and the Monkey Parliament poster before the museum shop and even reduced the price of MP to £10 from £15 before the shop did!
