Nick Walker - EMPIRE STATE, by cashman on Apr 7, 2009 15:19:08 GMT 1, ok so not to get too involved here. A regular client lost his job and said he needed to sell the print. He was phoning as he intended to put it on ebay. I offered to sell it for him and didnt expect him to sell at cost when he would get more elsewhere. I am sorry if some of you find this unforgivable but it is a decision I made and feel comfortable with. Totally understand that this is a business and is open to criticism and have no issues with that. Not keen on the idiot who said the Brp boys (especially since there is only me and sarah here) are selling pictures to fund a 'naught salt' habit. Its just a stupid idiotic comment that is really annoying and pathetic. totally unnecessary and unwarranted.
nice for clearing that up..I agree people should be able to express an opinion because at the end of the day you are offering a service and I would guess feedback is always welcome, but the salt comment is way beyond being constructive in anyway....keep it up BRP

Wasnt it one of your simpleton posts that persuaded jonpud to stop using this forum? with pathetic posts like the above robot, its no wonder that other members feel disgruntled when reading them.
If you give good out, it comes back to you you know?
Peace

Nick Walker - EMPIRE STATE, by theb on Apr 7, 2009 15:39:25 GMT 1, Everyone has an opinion, and that is the reason for the forum, but the reality is Galleries make their money by working with artists and collectors (buyers and sellers) to sell work, by marking up the work, if the artist needs $50 then the gallery charges $100. Someone has to cover the BRP team salaries, the overhead, the marketing and all the work they do so that the artists we love can get into our hands.
For them to sell something for someone they have to markup what they sell. If a collector bought a piece at cost and the market value is that much higher today, and rather than try to sell it themselves they want to hire an agent to sell it, someone has to cover the cost of the agent and get the fair market value and that is the consumer of the product.
BRP has been nothing but fair, they don't exploit the artists or the consumers, its business. Buying and selling (and even better collecting) art is a tough game driven by market supply and demand. If they are making a market, and doing it fairly why shouldn't they benefit from that?

Do you guys actually have any intelligent opinions at all or are you only interested in coming on here to infect the forum with your disturbed theories?
Klyde - still waiting for an explanation about your banksy charity controversy btw

I think you need to clam down mate!
My opinion is that charities funding religion, or FAILED asylum seekers, are controversial. Its also simply my opinion that theyโre thousands of charities more deserving of donations. Possibly why it attracted an opening bid, then only 1 more. But thatโs my opinion, shared on an internet forum. It means virtually nothing in the grand scheme of things.
On the topic of BRP. It doesnโt bother me as Iโm not a Nick Walker fan and didnโt attempt to buy the print. Just struck me as a little soon to be selling the product at a huge mark up, after coming on this forum condemning โflippersโ and even going so far to sabotage ebay listings and brag about it.
Since then BRP felt the need to come on here and explain why. Still not sure why they didnโt just tell the guy to sell it on ebay but thatโs their business!

Seeing that they gave a lot of the prints to "Someone who helped them get on their fee", and now theyre marking up some they held back? Nothing short of being complete assholes IMO.

Nick Walker - EMPIRE STATE, by howler on Apr 7, 2009 17:40:23 GMT 1, I wonder how many people who are having a go at BRP on this thread go along to all their shows and help themselves to the free beer
What the free beer that's provided by sponsors, without anyone drinking it there'd be no reason for the sponsor providing it they don't care who you are they want to be associated with a big crowd at a trendy happening that's all and having seen how many collectors buy Ashai when they're at a regular bar it's certainly working.
If you'd said how many have bought a BRP print to sell straight on for profit you might have a point.

Come along people - there are better things to do than to flog a dead horse:-
1) go outside and have a breath of fresh air - it is a beautiful day outside 2) help an old lady over the road - don't steal her purse. or her shopping etc etc 3) go and admire your own art collection 4) do some dissertation like i should be doing......
move along now people........ show's over........... nothing to see here..........

i think eyestorm do this very well with their "eyestorm trade" service. i think the prices are significantly higher than other secondary sources but they do offer the buyer the ultimate security of knowing the piece is genuine as they were the people who had originally sold it, which is of particular reassurance for high value prints (most of their roster) and those which have been forged (the hirsts).
