3 x Original Faile's for sale, by jones27 on Aug 18, 2009 14:31:20 GMT 1, There seems to be a verbal tug of war with Faile prices on this board. On one side you have (admittedly myself) who give cheaper real world estimations. And then we have Dank/Bobby and the big Faile collectors who (naturally) wanna look after their art portfolio and therefore give the bigger valuations to whats on offer.
Yep these are nice pieces. But I cant see a 5k lock anytime soon. 5 grand is a massive amount of money to spend on art (in this climate).
I think 2k max for most of the larger editions and 3k plus for these. Its one thing speculating and another to actually find someone willing to stump up the cash.

3 x Original Faile's for sale, by nex on Aug 18, 2009 15:06:31 GMT 1, that's the sad transparent thing about so much of this talk, it's 'what they want/believe it to be' rather than what it actually is...but hey what do i know?
Monkey if as you say you've had offers for 4k+ good on you! Because that's blooming great in this market.

Agree... just like most other artists.
Arguing that Banksy's are worth £1.5k because trolleys, S&S, VLH etc are is as ridiculous as arguing they're worth £10k because of RR, LN, GWSB etc
These are strong, rare Faile... and as such will command a high value.
In saying that, they're only worth what a fan is prepared to pay for them... and money's tight for most at the moment.
Be interesting to see what they land up selling for...

thankyou we're not as dim as you may think we are, I'm pretty sure there's a fair few of us that understand the difference between a mediocre and a good example of Faile's work - ALL that is being said is that ACROSS the board prices have fallen whether your selling a good piece or a cack piece
you know how I know about the Faile collector base? because guess what I'm a Faile collector to!!!! I've got a Faile original in my front room - but I'm not nearly up myself enough, to not know that it's value has fallen in recent times

3 x Original Faile's for sale, by bobbymeachamjr on Aug 18, 2009 15:34:09 GMT 1, My advice to the seller, unless you need to sell quickly, hold out for your "price". It'll come sooner or later. Just probably not here...

3 x Original Faile's for sale, by jones27 on Aug 18, 2009 17:32:44 GMT 1, What were the last 2 big Faile transactions via this board ? My guess is Ronhills Love Remix and Johnstons Happens Everyday. Both amazing and desirable rare pieces and both went for less money than expected. Afroken had a nightmare selling SOLIB. My point is, the market is very very tight and you will struggle selling these at above 3k.

3 x Original Faile's for sale, by Philippe on Aug 18, 2009 22:08:03 GMT 1, The Faile OG's from their last release all sold at $8k. What would make someone think that another OG of comparable execution and size not sell for a bit less? Especially if the images are older and perhaps to some more sought after. 3k GBP, please if anyone has Faile OG's like this for that price let me know and I will have all of them sold for you, seriously pm me.

3 x Original Faile's for sale, by meatbag on Aug 19, 2009 3:27:40 GMT 1, nice Failes for sure and I'm sure someone will swipe these up but I have a hard time with these as originals also. At least when you buy a stencil collage from someone like Shepard it's clearly stated how many times that stencil will ever be used. The Faile colorways seem endless and the concept of "hand finishing" is constantly exaggerated. It would kill me to spend $8k to only continue and see color variants, then the remix version, then the color variant on the remix, then finally a limited edition print... with lots of hand finishings.
I'd save the money and get one of their gallery originals at some point. 8K posters with bits of splashed paint doesn't cut it when originals will becoming much more accessible with their new representation.

3 x Original Faile's for sale, by bobbymeachamjr on Aug 19, 2009 3:41:32 GMT 1, Totally agree meatbag, theres "true" originals and theres these "originals" by label. The latter can still fetch a moderate premium depending on its "quality" and "edition".
Oh, not sure why you think their work is going to be more accessible. In fact, it'll be quite the opposite as their output will be much more controlled. They'll still be premium priced and targeted to more particular collectors. They can still fetch up to $100K for large canvases, sell out their $8K "posters" instantly etc etc. all during a terrible recession.
btw, sorry to the original seller as this thread has gotten silly in its tone...

Just for the record, the OG's from the last release did not sell out instantly, they were available for at least a week (The Giant Leap was the only instant seller). Please correct me if I am confused. Thanks
