How much is to much?, by nikki27 on Jun 20, 2007 8:36:14 GMT 1, Hi, i went to a local framers and had love your toys by Hutch and embroided Dface note, I had them both framed and was charged £70 for both, have i been taken for a ride? These are the first things ive had framed so was a little unsure how much this should cost, the dface is in a uv frame, but other than that pretty basic, seems a little much to me... Its just i hoping to get the mantis, all fall down framed as well but i should go somewhere eles? or is that quite reasonable, (really sorry for the stupid questions but iam new to all this )

How much is to much?, by Montubu7 on Jun 20, 2007 8:50:08 GMT 1, That seems pretty good to me.
If you go to John jones it would cost you 10 times that, so to me you got a Bargain!

How much is to much?, by Strange Al on Jun 20, 2007 8:50:39 GMT 1, It's very difficult to say without knowing exactly the types of frames and mounts you chose. However, £70 to have two items professionally framed is pretty good!!! Even if the D Face note is obviously very small.
Why don't you post some pics (people love seeing stuff framed) and some more details and people will be able to give you a better idea.

How much is to much?, by nikki27 on Jun 20, 2007 8:59:35 GMT 1, well i had the note on black backround and white mount with medium black frame in uv glass, and the hutch print in white mount again with med size black frame, he was quite cute and said he would give me agood price but to be honest i thought it was just shop talk...I get to pic them up next week will post pics then.

How much is to much?, by Strange Al on Jun 20, 2007 9:11:18 GMT 1, This still sounds like a pretty good price to me.
Though, you won't know until you get them back and can determine the quality of their framing.

How much is to much?, by corblimeylimey on Jun 20, 2007 11:09:17 GMT 1, Sounds as cheap as hell to me, I live in Devon so the framers are few and far between so that's not going to help with the costs but I expect to pay between £100 - £150 for most frame jobs although Applause came in at about £200, the very cheapest framing I can get done for my Scorn Tarot cards, with no border mount in a slim simple black frame will be about £70 each. All conservation standard of course.
What may have brought down your cost is if it's not done to conservation standard, if your prints fit an off the shelf frame, and if you live in a large city with plenty of competition.

How much is to much?, by Mister Frame Man on Jun 20, 2007 12:00:54 GMT 1, Sounds like you got a good deal to me, would be interested in seeing the quality! Good to see the likes of yourself using professional framers and making the most of showing off your collection - Makes hell of a difference, hope you are happy with them!
