Last thing i won was joke of the week in the Beano when i was about 7, the joke went
Two women sat talking, one says to the other "i gave my husband soap flakes instead of corn flakes for breakast this morning" the other woman says "was he mad" to which she replies "oh yes he was foaming at the mouth"
I think i had a choice of gifts, i picked the diving submarine, every day i'd get up nearly hyperventilating with excitment at the arrival of the postman. One day when my mum picked me up she told me it was here, i ripped it open , my mum ran a bath. As far as i can remember it was wind up moved under water, and you had to put a tablet in it that fizzed and filled a tank with air so eventually it would come to the surface, then go back down again and so on. Well it didnt and by the end of my bath it was totally broken. I feel i am owed something from the world , i want to be excited by the arrival of the postman again this time i wont end up soaking wet crying on the bathroom mat with crappy broken toy in hand. I believe that this early traumatic experience has played a part in my collectomania as waiting for parcels/tubes is still a big part of my pleasure in life and often very painfull when they arrive re-living the disapointment. No pressure but maybe being the recipient of your giveaway can put an end to this psychological scar.
