Green Day - StolenSpace Gallery - 22nd Oct, by Macdeee on Oct 23, 2009 9:52:17 GMT 1, Pretty good show. Strange to be at Stolens Space but in a marquee with security and a bar and wine being served... I really liked the Meggs piece and Eelus's worked really well too.

Green Day - StolenSpace Gallery - 22nd Oct, by Happy Shopper on Oct 23, 2009 11:42:08 GMT 1, Good show, and nice evening in general. Slightly scary that this was clearly a big PR event. Suddenly dawned on me when I spotted Charming Bakers agent and remembered they're also the agent for Green Day, and that discussion around Baker's show. I also noticed that this was the first time the band had seen the work, which I thought had been on Tour with them in the US!!??

I would imagine it was not really that sort of show I would think its more about displaying the art, rather then just being there to sell it.

In general thought it was reasonable considering the possible interest from beyond our little urban art world. A few bargains as well. The Ron English was the only one that seemed expensive to me. Liked the M City and the Sixten.

Green Day - StolenSpace Gallery - 22nd Oct, by Karl Read on Oct 23, 2009 11:55:19 GMT 1, Im not a fan of Logan Hick's work. These im really liking though. His style seems to have been tweaked slightly, less of a computer generated photo look. He has a show with C215 soon, im really interested to see what direction he is going in as far as style goes.

interesting i found the prices on the whole to be too high for the standing of the artists / work, but as you correctly point out this is playing to a totally different audience to that usually associated with them. Generally disappointed by the work other than M City's and found the whole linkage to an ageing pop punk group a little sad if I'm honest - whats next? Dface does Celine Dion?

Green Day - StolenSpace Gallery - 22nd Oct, by topper007 on Oct 23, 2009 16:10:34 GMT 1, Thought it was a pretty good show on the whole. Prices perhaps still overall a little on the high side for some pieces and artists but also some were pretty reasonable in my view.
Liked the Logan Hicks stencils in terms of style, precise execution etc. but wouldn't pay ยฃ5000 to have Green Day on the wall - like their music but not that much! Something commissioned in that style would pretty good though.
The Will Barras canvas was my pick of the bunch.
If nothing else, it was fun to take in a different style of show.

If they are for sale, the price is a perfectly valid thing to discuss.

I'm perfectly chilled thanks. If you read my comment it's extremely neutral. Nex's comment was reasonable and just seemed a strange thing for you to say that it's not 'that kind of show' when things are for sale. *shrugs*

Green Day - StolenSpace Gallery - 22nd Oct, by Happy Shopper on Oct 24, 2009 0:46:16 GMT 1, Eelus was sold first, by quite a way. Probably before the show even opened!? Wasn't until the booze was flowing later that Logan Hicks, Meggs, Sixten, and I was told M-City, sold.
I'd say many pieces were priced a little high, but the connection with Green Day must count for something.

Pretty sure American Eulogy by Jeremiah Garcia went as well.
