New Faile at Perry Rubenstein Gallery, by motor on Sept 24, 2009 11:24:25 GMT 1, I just back up what Dellboyy said. Faile work IS and ALWAYS WAS and WILL BE about circulation of the images taken from the surroundings, constant recycling imagery (and its juxtaposition) which they've adapted from pulps, comic books, adverts etc... At the end of the day they were 'born' this way. Faile is an anagram of their original name a Life.
The new stuff at PRG obviously goes with this. But the main thing what they're superb at and where they're leading the way is IMO the exploring the technique and surfaces which they use. And those 'wooden canvases' from the small boxes are a great example of the latter. So nothing 'new' here move on and get on with it or just keep bitching if you like.
And the last bit - I wouldn't expect any new images before their 2010 show.

However much i'd like to think I could admire a new technique, it just feels like something old dressed in a new clothes...don't you think? Even in a little?

Well, there is lots of (and I mean lots of) the stuff I wouldn't want on my walls or I don't care about at all but I wouldn't say it was because I found it tiresome, repetitive. And then there are versions which I have seen many, many times and yet (like the recent version of Confessions) I would do almost anything to have it. Does it answer your question?

New Faile at Perry Rubenstein Gallery, by nex on Sept 24, 2009 14:57:28 GMT 1, good answer, have to disagree on the 'tiresome' part as there's plenty of art that completely and utterly bores me i.e. shows me nothing nor inspires a reaction other than yawnnnn etc etc

New Faile at Perry Rubenstein Gallery, by meatbag on Sept 25, 2009 1:24:32 GMT 1, Although I totally agree about many of these images being over used I think it has everything to do with their new choice of representation. PR will be exposing Faile to a completely new audience so remixing some of their old favorites may not be a bad idea for the very short term. It will really be interesting to see how things go with a new gallery advising them.

New Faile at Perry Rubenstein Gallery, by Philippe on Sept 26, 2009 3:27:29 GMT 1, Those start at 20k. Yah they've been mainly keeping them in the studio but I saw a hit's n' crashes that was bad ass. Most of these style of palettes will be on display at FIAC coming up. I do know that PR sold the my confessions before the show started, don't even know if they displayed it but saw it laying on the floor earlier in the day. The gallery is super friendly so please don't hesitate to contact them if your interested in anything...found out the butterfly girl image is officially retired.

New Faile at Perry Rubenstein Gallery, by snausages on Sept 27, 2009 16:58:48 GMT 1, Yeah, like the cube pieces, like the other one even more, maybe not groundbreaking but it shows a steady experimentation and exploration by Faile that suits their thing perfectly.
Faile coming up for sale at Christies, not liking the pastel colors though:

New Faile at Perry Rubenstein Gallery, by meatbag on Sept 27, 2009 18:24:53 GMT 1, prices are very reasonable and def much lower then the last show at Laz. Glad to see things will now be based on quality pieces moving forward and not just hype wrapped around retarded pricing schemes.

New Faile at Perry Rubenstein Gallery, by jones27 on Oct 8, 2009 16:16:51 GMT 1, I dont think Gossel is that bad. Its not like Faile and Aiko are still producing pretty pulp fiction images anymore. Sadly they have both moved on. So what if Gossel continues this theme
