Sickboy Show - PHOTOS, by Happy Shopper on Dec 4, 2008 0:31:55 GMT 1, Was a great show. Loads of lovely new work, and a few new versions of older prints. The Factory was fun, and the little sweet packet (or whatever it is!?) was a nice little free give away... look out for them on ebay!
People are talking about Eelus, but I think Sickboy should have a great 2009 too hopefully.
Only downside was being kept waiting in the queue, in the freezing cold, for them to register everyone... And the lack of price lists or anybody to ask about the work. A few things were labeled with price and edition size, but not everything.

Sickboy Show - PHOTOS, by romanywg on Dec 4, 2008 0:58:25 GMT 1, ALL photos up now here www.flickr.com/photos/romanywg/sets/72157610694359304/ The only prices I noticed were the large canvases were over the £5k mark. The opening was packed and not an easy place to take any pictures. Dark and lots of reflections. The picture below is of The Save The Youth Little Helpers that were making the candy that came out of the house installation on a Save The Youth conveyer belt. See Set.
Or maybe they were Ferrari mechanics.

Sickboy Show - PHOTOS, by stickee on Dec 4, 2008 2:56:50 GMT 1, I thought the thing wa a big let down will explain more when I have got some sleep
but I thought keeping us outside for over an hour after it was meant to open was poor some of the art was badly framed and expensive, the "staff" got on my tits etc etc Thought he might of gone for a new direction but was all classic Sickboy which was cool but maybe a few different bits would of been good as well.
looking in the back room there was a stack of half started canvases with paint mist still in the air hmmmmm

Sickboy Show - PHOTOS, by gerry on Dec 4, 2008 4:13:31 GMT 1, Just blogged it, with clear photos of pretty much the lot and a walk through of what was where and all that. Enjoyed the night, would definitely recommend seeing it, very Sickboy and not like anything else really...

Sickboy Show - PHOTOS, by Avian Security on Dec 4, 2008 4:27:20 GMT 1, That was cool. Disagree with Stickee there. Sickboy's paintings are unique in style and you can read a lot of meaning into them. Also the freaky masked factory girls were awesome. I knocked on their door and they opened it and just stared at me in their balaclavas for a few seconds, totally silent, then slammed the door in my face. It was a great moment.

Sickboy Show - PHOTOS, by Happy Shopper on Dec 4, 2008 10:28:33 GMT 1, Being stuck out side was a big let down, and ruined the good vibe a bit, but lets not let it get in the way of what is a very good show!
Factory Girls were cool. I peered through the window and laughed, and one of them looked at me and then just gave me one of the packets. Nice!
Some of the prints were around £100. 2 new prints for the show (Stay Free logo with rays behind it, and another with more type I think). There was a special edition of the Stay Free poster. Might have been hand finished, but it was too dark to see!! £800 versions of the recent POW Save The Youth, printed directly onto coloured perspex boxes. Edition of 30 I think. Other Hand Finished Screen Prints and originals on paper or wood, loads of them, for around £400 (?) Canvases were about £3000 - ?
As I said before, price lists like gold dust, so that's just from memory!

Sickboy Show - PHOTOS, by Macdeee on Dec 4, 2008 10:31:17 GMT 1, Ha ha ha... Those girls freaked me out. In the end my girlfriend was giving them beer in exchange for the Sickboy sweets. Then I gave them a mini marker and they started writing obsenities on the packets... Comedy.
Great shots as usual Mr Romany. I thought it was an awesome space. The "Factory" was just a big garden shed painted a la Sickboy, but its different. The canvases were pretty amazing up close. The "Mini temple" prints in gold and grey were a hundred notes but looked niiiiiice.
The waiting for an hour and twenty minutes to get in was a bit of a joke as it wasnt busy at first. Plus the VIP guest list seemed to be bigger then the regular guestlist.
Anyway it was a good show all in all I thought. I now have a banging strongbow headache!

Sickboy Show - PHOTOS, by G-Man on Dec 4, 2008 10:40:49 GMT 1, Great show last night!
The highlights for me were the girls in the factory giving the mini signed sweets away
Lots of prints available got myself a 12" x 12" temple print for £100, there was a gold leaf version available but for £250! The loves saves the day print was nice too. There were a couple of Stay Free prints too that were cool. There was Sickboys 1/20 gold buff temple for sale for £500 and that was snapped up. The biting silver specials from POW were selling too three had been sold by the time I left at £325 i think.
The queue was the lowlight as it really didn't need to have moved so slowly but once in there was plenty of great art and free beer.
Some scumbag stole a piece off the factory half way through the night that pissed Sickboy off mightily as you would expect!!
All in all a great show and a good night

Sickboy Show - PHOTOS, by schlomo on Dec 4, 2008 10:40:59 GMT 1, I have to agree with Stickee, (and mate sorry not to meet up for a beer). Bouncer on the door was ridiculously rude, basically shouted at my missus for us trying to have a look in. We ended up leaving, getting some food and then heading back down just before it closed. Thought the art was amazing as always, but wasn't particularly well framed, and the prints were overpriced...
All in all its sickboy, his work is wicked, and its well worth a view, just not worth your missus almost crying cos of a monkey bouncer.

the girl had accidently told about 5 people this and sold a few to them and then left some people annoyed.
i would try and contact them to find out.

I did overhear the guy in the white beanie hat saying to the girl that was selling stuff (I think her name was brianey) that she was quoting the wrong price and size for those temple prints
