I did not say you were a nazi nor do I believe or did I say that your piece is racist, my reference to racism was with regards to the political climate this piece enters into. I was asked by someone at the gallery whether or not I thought it was racist, I said I did not believe so and that people should be free to tackle controversially issues and referenced Beejoir's art that was showing at that time. The issue was not the topic, but what I cant help but perceive as a lie.
You stated that the text said Peace Love and unity, it was my gf who was just passing and had no idea you were the artist who corrected you on the translation. You replied that you had translated it on an internet website, and it must have got it wrong. At no time did you mention that there was a God save the queen version. This brought me to question the meaning of the piece and your motives for lying or getting the translation so wrong.
I did say to you at the time how it was a very fitting coincidence that it translated to god save the queen.
The peace love and unity message you said it promoted is still lost on me and I stand by my belief that intentionally or not this piece plays into scaremongering not social cohesion.
But again, let me state the problem was the translation and what i can only assume was a lie not the piece by itself.
As for brownie points, please! There was debate regarding the image and I felt that our conversation should be part of it.

Who would even put that on display??!? What kind of statement would it be making about you? i'd love to hear you justifying it to that nice guy who's politely nodding and agreeing with you about what a "great talking piece it is" when he's clearly taken offence.

For all those who cannot be bothered to read or fail to understand the points I made, let me reiterate and make it as clear as possible.
The problem is not the piece or slogan "God save the queen". It is the fact that K Guy lied and said that the Arabic translated to "Peace Love and Unity". Someone from the gallery was standing there when my girlfriend corrected K Guy's translation. They questioned K Guy, he played dumb giving the excuse that he translated it on an internet website and it must of got it wrong, which I found unbelievable due to the slogan matching the image so well, thats why i said to him it all seems very coincidental!
K-Guys response digs the lie further and states there were always two versions of this, only myself, someone from the gallery, K Guy and my girlfriend know the truth. You can make up your own mind.
Listen, what do I have to gain? Why the hell would I lie? I don't care for the image, I find it pretty crass and politically backwood however there are 101 images and artists i am not necessarily fond of, the particular problem with this one is that my girlfriend caught him lying to the gallery regarding the translation and he continues to lie with his response.
This is my final message on the topic, as I have far more important things to be doing.

Whatever. I must say, these prints are incredible. Great quality paper, beautiful colours, great glitter in the crowns.....honestly, some of the best prints I have ever received.....I know, I know...I don't have a digital cam right now, hence the no pictures....but if you ordered these and haven't received them yet....be happily warned: they are gorgeous and a cut-above your average print.
