So a S&S offered up on the forums privately is in the same ballpark with a creased S&S with pending COA sold at Phillips Auction house..."the destination for international collectors to buy and sell the worldโs most important contemporary works of art." smh |

I did my homework, and inspected out of frame with the head of the department. We could not even find the crease mentioned, it was literally non existent. I did bid but stopped at 15K USD all-in. |

I'd be surprised if the buyer knew much of anything other than it was a signed piece of artwork from the infamous and mysterious street artist "banksy". lol

At the end of the day it all depends who you end up buying from, those who create or believe the hype or those who are more realistic with their pricing.
Edit update, I just saw that you said you hadn't seen one for that price for the last year...There have been plenty that have exchanged hands for 8-9Kgbp in the past year. Many of those who have them now and claim it to be a 25K piece have purchased it in the past year for 8-9K gbp LOL. #ALLHYPE

At the time, I was caught up with a donut deal at the time that ended up falling through (multiple tape marks on back when unframed). By the time I got back to the S&S it had sold for 9Kgbp shipped. Look at the end of the day, if someone want to pay an insane amount then so be it. But if you are realistic with what you think something is worth and can filter through the hype, then you'll find the piece you're looking for for the price you want to pay based off of unbiased sales data.
The reality of the situation is everyone is so quick to quote auction prices, I tell those people unless you're Phillips, Sotheby's, Bonhams, don't come out the gate with their prices because that isn't where we are at here.
There's 4 tiers, Direct (which is inexistent because of no new releases), Secondary private market (us), Galleries and .coms, then auction houses and sales prices increase with each tier- normally-. But because of the hype, it's all over the place, Private sellers asking more than galleries, galleries asking more than auction houses, and everything in between. lol It will all settle sooner or later and whichever way it does settle there will be plenty of regret to go around.
