No true collector will buy it and not have it registered under their name. And with you telling PC that it was stolen, I'm sure they will contact you.
So with stolen art does the value decrease dramatically because no honest collector will touch it?

I'd think so. It would be like owning something that in theory has high value, but you can never sell openly.

That's why people need to be very careful when buying. Check the history, COA and check with POW that it is registered in the name of the person you are buying from.

So for all the bargain hunters out there, I would stay well clear of 71/500 until it's back with the rightful owner.

It's sad to see the kids so scared by this, just impossible to hide with Police here and the remains of the front door. Strange they walked straight past i-pads, the wife's handbag, it would seem they came for the art.
I renewed my art insurance last week, thank goodness. I have to say if anyone is thinking like i did, and that extra ยฃ400 could go on something more interesting, don't. I'm with Brownhill and so far they've been excellent, i will keep you all posted on the progress.

I've started getting pretty paranoid leaving the home empty for longer than a couple of days. All insured but I'm seriously considering putting gps transmitters or something on some of the works. No idea if it's possible or indeed just over the top.
Hope the scum gets caught and you get back what's yours, we'll all be keeping eyes and ears open

As others have said if you're , as I'm sure you are , all registered with pow etc the work won't appear at auction... As they wont deal with a work without pc .. But it may appear on the bay with a lowish bin , so be weary out there people !!
Otherwise I do hope you get it back and ,again , hope your kids and other half are safe and not thinking of moving as a result of this...

Not so that I could hoover up lots of prints cheaply, but so that the value didn't matter... it could just be about the art. But I dream...

He waits for my wife to leave, then turns up outside my house, he's in a Europecar hire van,
one guy, he gets out with a crowbar in hand, 57 seconds later leaves with Stop and Search nothing else.
Targeted, very professional, and he had time to take more, so it looks like it's stolen to order, he even shut the dinning room door behind him to stop the dog running out.
I live in a row of terrace houses, no hesitation where he was going.
If i can find a way to upload this i will, i have to say it's heart breaking to watch him leaving with my print.
You can see the man and the van, Police now have a way to trace him, and hopefully find out who ordered my print.

PC and POW have been great, they're on full alert to anything suspicious,
they got back to me straight away, and were very concerned.
The insurance broker i use Brownhill, have been equally good,
the policy is with 'AXA art'. They have got back to me within a week to say they will
pay to replace my print, and cover the cost of reframing it. I have to say i wouldn't insure
with anyone else after this faultless service.

in 50k chunks i think. You don't need to individually name works.
For example 50k would be aprox ยฃ300, 100k would be ยฃ400 and so on.
I guess it depends on where you live, i really would never be without insurance after this,
you never think it'll happen to you.
