Suppose it's personal taste. I wouldn't call myself a hip-hop fan, I like some older hip-hop acts and I like artists like Yoda and Cut Chemist live... my honest thoughts were Jay-Z would go down like a bucket of sick, with me and the crowd. I thought he was brilliant, start to finish.
As for Hot Chip, I've watched a fair bit of Glastonbury this year and I thought they were immense (they were last year too) really rocked the crowd... However I think the same of The Chemical Brothers who were the best thing at Glastonbury the year before last.

As for the newer stuff - has to be Taskforce as already mentioned, Fingerthing (amazing live sets by these guys), Ty, Rodney P, Million Dan - all great and i would have enjoyed a set by any one of them a thousand times more than Jay-Z's set last night. I dont care if he is worth ยฃ300 million, he was weak. His band though were awesome....

I remember when Public Enemy headlined Reading '92 and John Peel was comparing. They left the stage at the end with sirens blaring, pyro going off etc with the crowd still blown away and John Peel then comes on and says.... "I suppose all that's left to say is Good motherf**king Night!" Brilliant ;D

Biggest problem is that his music is relatively unknown in the UK and he has a shit back catalogue of tracks to play out live. Needed guests - his lazy diva of a wife could have helped him out for christsake!
His early stuff (before he chased the $'s and went pop) was pretty good (check Original Flavor - Can I get open for an example of a classic), but the new stuff does nothing for me.
Not sure about the pre-programmed comments - I do know that the drummer is one of the best in the world though - just look up "tony royster jr" on youtube..
