Out of interest what do you see as the 'loads of meaning'? I mean there's the basic cop joke loving their pastries. There's the connection to presidential race that was happening at the time. There's the cop that's mbw. Actually that's not a bad amount there.
Anyway I've always liked it because of it's simplicity, different yes, but not bad because of that to my mind.

Behind the obvious "cops like donuts" joke there is the deeper meaning of cops protecting what they themselves value, not what keeps us safe. The motivations and focus of cops in society. Presenting something like that through an image is no easy task and Banksy has done extremely well here.
Also, due to the presidential election notion, there is the famous quote from JFK "Ich bin ein Berliner", which is, or is not, referred in this piece of art.
And Iยดm sure there is even more to it. But already a nice amount of cultural and political references in a "pretty picture".
But yeah, the ever so trendy opinion seems to be "its crap", with no further explanations. And sure, such an opinion is just as valuable as any other..
Edit: to the question, I think ยฃ2.4-3k should be about right in the current climate. Expect a raise to the level of other Banksy prints such as CYW, Nola, NBG etc. I dont see why there would be any difference in price between chocholate and strawberry.

I've always wondered if it's another nod to the street writers of the 80s. Haring/Basquiat and (not street) Kippenberger twisted art and language and communicated with one another across their oeuvres. Kenny Scharf was right in the mix with them back in the day and continues to twist that language with other artists (some famous, others not). Around the time of the Banksy donut painting ('09), Scharf was in the middle of doing his donut paintings which were from '08-'11:

They both write in the streets and Banksy clearly pays attention and has loads of double entendre in his work.
