Unfortunately I would think it would be quite a bit lower in price, I certainly would hesitate to pay top whack for it and would probably pass on it unless it was priced a little higher than an unsigned. So i guess a signed print without signature would be worth less desirable as the same print with a clear signature. My 2 cents..

I think that when people buy a signed product, they usually want to be able to see the signature and feel like the artist left his personal, lasting impression. At least I feel like that's why I usually buy something signed, versus just an open edition.
And it would almost certainly decrease in value simply due to its comparative quality to the other prints in the edition; people are likely to prefer the signed product with the clear signature, which will lead to the lack of clear signature causing a decrease in demand/price.

You really think so? It is sort of a unique situation in that it's not like a damaged painting that can be restored; I wonder if there has been a past instance with a famous artist (other than the Hirst thing mentioned).

Mine looks fine though has never received direct sunlight and is behind museum glass. The color red bleeds faster than any other from the sun so be careful with these.

I have a 1950 print that Picasso signed in orange crayon and it still looks good, so crayon can last a very long time. I would take that frame to a good frame shop and confirm that it is UV glass. It may have faded in the light if the wrong glass was used. It happens...
I would also contact Pest Control and see if you can mail it off for a replacement signature. And hey, he may still be in London

Its going to be your problem if you ever come to sell it. Your going to have buyers thinking the same thought you are. Best to get one with no issues, much easier to sell if you ever had to, not saying you would but you never know.

of course, the purchase is made because of the love, not to sell. but anything can happen at any time, and people find themselves in situations they never wish they would end up and its good to know should that ever happen, youre able to get value.
at the moment it just doesnt seem there are many for sale, and people are asking a hefty price if they do come for sale these days. it is probably better to pass, but i just love the image, i want to look at it, (i want to eat it) but the obsessive part of me will look at the signature every day like the picture of michael j fox in back to the future slowly disappearing from existence. tough call, maybe ill hear something good from pc, but not holding my breath as i am sure theyre swamped.
