Banksy Donuts Print, by stillborncrisps on Jul 29, 2009 9:33:20 GMT 1, I personally think they couldn't be bothered with the hassle so will not delete common IP addresses etc but will instead draw the names, wack them into an excel and sort by surname to ensure that no name is drawn twice. I could be wrong though Wizbong, did you enter? Good luck, it's about time you had a Banksy Surely though people could register and genuinely have the same name. What happens then , if you share the same name as someone who also likes banksy then you are out of luck.. .Surely not ,
To me the whole thing seems to me more like an email harvesting exercise for POW - they have just increased their mailing list size by a billion percent, making it easier to shift those 'less desirable' prints that we all laugh at but Joe Public will lap up.
(I'm not slagging them for it, just pointing it out).
So I don't think they'll be rejecting anyone who's entered more than once unless they've used the same email address domain/real name combo. If they were that bothered about flippers they could've put other simple checks in the sign up process to help prevent it, rather than trying to post-process the data. As it stands, this was little more than a newsletter sign-up form.

Banksy Donuts Print, by reg on Jul 29, 2009 9:35:34 GMT 1, Well this should keep us entertained for 5 minutes: let's start a "emails recieved whilst waiting for POW" thread.....
I've just had one offering me a one way campervan rental from London to Amsterdam. Ten quid per day and I can collect it on Friday and have to be in Amsterdam by 12th August.
Anyone else got anything slightly more interesting than Spam?

Banksy Donuts Print, by spanksy on Jul 29, 2009 9:41:16 GMT 1, Do you think they'll bother to be that sophisticated? The system already won't allow the same e-mail to be entered twice as we know from this thread. So then you're on to deleting names/emails which look a bit too similar? You could easily delete perfectly genuine entries that way. And then what about offices or internet cafes which share IP addresses? A bit unfair to do a block delete of everyone who uses the same internet cafe, no? I only entered once (probably naieve but it's straight shooting at least!) and would support POW's effort to delete entries which ignore the spirit of the rules. However at the same time I'm not sure it's possible in practice without victimising good faith entrants. Anyway, enough over-analysis. None of us can control the process anyway so you just sit back and take your chances I say So for those who don't like the lottery process here's an idea - e-mail POW, take your name off the list voluntarily as a matter of principle and write a strongly worded letter to The Guardian all about it. Good luck all I personally think they couldn't be bothered with the hassle so will not delete common IP addresses etc but will instead draw the names, wack them into an excel and sort by surname to ensure that no name is drawn twice. I could be wrong though Wizbong, did you enter? Good luck, it's about time you had a Banksy
i emailed dora and she said as long as the emails are different you will be fine. no ips tracking/deletion so chilll everyone!
