Hush: Graf Warrior, by timba82 on Jul 8, 2008 18:58:33 GMT 1, rifter your being a twit. everyone that wanted to say negative stuff about hush have done so, especially after the brick lane show. you need to keep your boring negative opinions to your self and let off some serious peronal anger else where man.
dont know if you have realised but your the only person being spiteful and negative and not giving constructive critisism.
stop hiding behind your new screen name and your computer.

Hush: Graf Warrior, by seidbereit on Jul 8, 2008 19:16:50 GMT 1, my post wasnt aimed at yours, the quoting thing here is just confusing. i think a mass coverup operation is in order sorry my bad, no offence intended..and yea the "quote thing selects every qoute
Just to change the subject slightly but can someone tell me when the phrase "my bad" made it's way into the English language? I'm generally very interested in the way the language is used due to my job, but this particular nugget is something I've only ever heard used on this forum and on no other one.
There's only one forum member I can think of (and could name ) that uses the phrase but there may also be others.
How funny it would be (no really) if the thing Hush himself was rounded up on for allegedly doing were to turn out to be the same thing his detractors are now using to cower behind.

Surely his view is as valid as anyone elses? And his criticism seems constructive to me...
Everyone has their right to a view, and everyone's view should be respected, especially if they are not just being "spiteful and negative" but have actually thought about what they're saying like rifter has below.
untill he has a style of his own, and stops trying to be faile, dface, conor harrington....and come up with something that (to me) shows true beauty, and artistic flair, then i might change my mind but the manga chick stuff...tits and the terror and now this "graff warrior"...semms a little like "art for art sake"...he is no more a "street" artist than i m the queen of sheeba . a few paste ups and a poor showing cans ("what the hell is a "graff geisha" ) *going off topic ...sorta* i dont like it when artists claim to be "street" and i will lump cartrain and grafter in with hush.....i will call them google image whores. geisha girl and graff warrior all poor it says nothing and isnt even good to look at...but because he/they claims to be "street" people fall for it (like i said fools and their money) are they jumping on the bandwagon that is the urban art scene..to make a little cash, or to be respected as an artist, a cobbled together google image made in to a 2 layer stencil add some graff squiggles and some random "tag" writing does not equate to art in my book, touching some one on another level with raw artistic tallent and artistic beauty is another thing
How can you say that isn't constructive?

Hush: Graf Warrior, by carlito on Jul 9, 2008 12:44:33 GMT 1, I wouldn't think calling any artist a 'google image whore' is in anyway 'constructive'
think it's singularly freaking harsh in fact, I'd say u don't like it fine say you're piece, but also at least recognise others may like it and quite frankly their views counts for just as much...even if u don't agree....

Hush: Graf Warrior, by instinct on Jul 9, 2008 12:52:38 GMT 1, i think hush is amazing... the quality of the image is outstanding... yes the style reminds me of connor harrington but not so much faile and certainly not anything like dface? i think his use of the tag against classic imagery is very very interesting indeed. i also think that this is another example of the move back towards the free style as with all conor h stuff and the recent nick wlaker mood boards... who knows tags may actually become art in the end... ps has anyone heard of temper now that is some crazy tagging technique! over and out x

The wording might be wrong but there is an underlying sentiment behind the wording which is constructive... Personally I've no issue with people using whatever tools they want to create an image (although I can often feel left cold by images lifted wholesale).
I don't like this image either, but nothing to do with the source of it though...

An Americanism, no doubt? It's one of those awful phrases that has sprung out of nowhere and is getting used more and more... along with "hater", "hating on" and "gotten"
I agree with the first two, but "gotten" is actually grammatically correct even if it is only the Americans who use it (or more accurately - preserved it's use). It's only the English who have phased it out of use but for some reason by using got for both present and past tenses. For some reason though they didn't apply whatever logic they used in phasing it out to forget (forgotten) or beget (begotten) etc. I personally don't use "gotten" either but that's just through habit and personal taste.
On the Hush criticism, I have to say I can't see anything constructive about rifter's post at all. Practically every sentence is worded in the negative and a fair amount of it derogatory. My main problem (if you could call it one) with rifter's comments are that they're merely a regurgitation of claims made by half a dozen other posters around the time of the Hush/Copyright show - not a single original thought among them.
What for example does this image have to do with d-face?? Or Faile?? The Faile thing I could sort of understand with respect to the T+T pieces, but if anything the graf warrior (which after all is the piece that apparently "forced" rifter to come from lurking) seems, if anything, to be quite a shift away from a style which could be compared with Faile so why therefore bring up Faile or plagiarism of any kind? "A couple of paste ups and a piss-poor showing at cans??" Seems a little pathetic IMO.

But as Hush isn't a member of this forum then I don't imagine he'll know anyway...
Putting Hush aside and talking about the image though, I would like to know what it is that people like about it? I understand his Japanese influences, but I think they work miles better in the "Disgraced" "Tits & Terror" series etc than here and with the Graff Geisha...

I'm pretty much of the opposite opinion my pain killered up mate... actually prefer gg and gw to those images u mention, i find the clash of styles much more intesting in these, than in the more errrrr provocative images which i find pretty dull in comparison
