Nick Walker V for Vandalism, by steve on Apr 14, 2008 9:53:36 GMT 1, Banksy's prints don't even cost 750. Nick needs to remember flippers drive the market forward to a certain degree. Keep your friends close but your enemies closer I think they say.
there's only 75 remember.

Nick Walker V for Vandalism, by pezlow on Apr 14, 2008 9:58:42 GMT 1, Forgive me for being a bit cynical about these things but I reckon Nick Walker has probably got about another month or so of this frenzied excitement before the forum moves to another artist who becomes flavour of the month. It is all so short termist.
Just to put it in historical perspective these have been the forum flavours of the month, all IMHO of course:
May last year - Beejoir June last year - Guy Denning July last year - Ian Francis August last year - Adam Neate September last year - Anthony Micallef October last year - BANKSY November last year - Dface December last year - 3D January this year - BAST February this year - Dface March this year - Nick Walker April this year (?) - Miss Bugs?

According to mike he is having intense interest world wide with the Nick Walker show like never before. With a combination of the bonhams auction, the high profile press he has received with a sell out show in LA-Banksy helping with the promotion And with the obvious fact that he is producing a great body of work right now and is a perfectionist of his craft I feel Walker won't be just a flavour of the month thing. Don't forget that an incredible amount of the LA work stayed in LA also, normally it all comes back to Blighty!
This show will be a COMPLETE sell out and no it's not just driven by us boys. Nick has captured a whole new global audience. He's up there!

Nick Walker V for Vandalism, by pezlow on Apr 14, 2008 10:18:54 GMT 1, You might well be right frankie, I'm not suggesting that he will tank after a month or so - I'm sure he'll go on to have a great career. All I'm saying is that I have little doubt that next month the hot artist on this forum will be someone else... as for what they do in the real world that is obviously a different kettle of fish.

Nick Walker V for Vandalism, by jh153 on Apr 14, 2008 10:26:20 GMT 1, But whats all this hysteria about there being a bubble going to burst over him? Not yet surely. Yes he is pricing his work high but thats probably a price skimming strategy. The value of his work comes from the quality of his work, and extensive PR in which Nick appears to be doing quite well in.

He might be out of reach pricewise for a lot of forum members now, but we should be pleased that an artist from this movement is realising these sort of prices and a following from collectors around the world.

Nick Walker V for Vandalism, by pezlow on Apr 14, 2008 11:40:23 GMT 1, Of course hooker - it's just that October corresponded with the trolleys release hysteria on this board. Putting banksy in the list just really demonstrates that of course these artists have long term futures. But they seem to go through periods of board hysteria about their work when every other thread is about them. Then the board moves on to someone else...

Nick Walker V for Vandalism, by jonpud on Apr 14, 2008 11:45:21 GMT 1, My tuppence worth!
Unlike Neate, Banksy, Faile etc, etc. Nick Walker has produced a series of paintings (Morning After series) that don't just appeal to the likes of us who love street art, prime example, my parents!
Apart from 'Girl With Balloon' there isn't a Banksy print my folks would have on their wall, Nick Walker however is a completely different kettle of fish!
Prints of this quality, with such a diverse cultural appreciation and with such limited numbers are always gonna be highly saught after.
I don't think the bubble will burst on the MA series, big question is will Nick continue to be succesful when the Vandal eventually gets caught and the series ends! What's the next big thing that will appeal to so many people!?
Just an opinion!!

Nick Walker V for Vandalism, by thinkbank on Apr 14, 2008 11:45:39 GMT 1, Nicks work has improved alot and he's finally getting the recoginition he deserves. No doubt it has been helped along by new interest in street art and the fact he is from Bristol.
I do believe these prints are extortionate in price, but if were willing to pay it then we cant really argue too much....

Very well put, Pud.
I was going to write something similar but with so many posts regarding what these may be worth on ebay 16 seconds after they've sold out I decided not to bother.

Nick Walker V for Vandalism, by jonpud on Apr 14, 2008 11:56:58 GMT 1, I was trying to agree with both opinions!
Yes it's likely that Nick is currently flavour of the month and that the bubble will burst on the Moona Lisa, Baby Moll type works, just got a feeling that the MA's are likely to remain a VERY popular image that would look good in ANY house or environment!
I bet the 'London Edition' would find a place in 10 Downing Street and wouldn't look out of place!

To start with he has a unique style and the nature of the art is relativley niche.

It's better than good in real life and it appeals to a wider spectrum of people!
Fresh idea that has caught most peoples imagination, although a long time admirer of Nick's work, I think it's safe to say that everything other than the MA series has a much more restricted admiration base!?

Take it you'll be buying it cause you like the image then.
These will be very hard to get hold off, the show has had a massive buzz about it, I can't understand what all the knocking is about, no one knows about this scene properly yet excepyt trhe people who have followed it for years and the recent clutch of hangers on.

I seriously doubt that will happen imo. Like has already been said a few times in this thread, Nicks sudden popularity is in part down to the, much more accessible than the work he has produced before, Vandal series. By all accounts 'Life's too short' is going to be one hell of a quality print and the image is very wall friendly.
