standing in line for 30 hours for a print isnt something i am likely to repeat in a hurry, but i have to say that the experience was really good. At the front with me some lovely forum members who really know and appriciate good art.
there were some people not too far behind about 4 in particular who were quite clearly not interested in art in any way. one guy said he had been buying stuff off Nick Waker for years and was a good friend. Out then comes Nick from BRP starts chatting to the same person who in front of everyone says' so what do you do for a living then?' NIck replies 'i do a bit of art', then replies the hired hand 'are you any good?'
this is a guy who clearly doesnt even know who nick is, let alone kow what his art looks like.
this guy and 3 others were paid by another guy to que for him and then obviously buy him some prints. the 'gang master' returnled to the scene with about 30 mins to go and tried to blag his way in early to buy some canvases. thankfully he was told a very clear no. the blokes he hired were clearly not very pleasant. (if your on this forum mr gang master) ive clocked your face and if i get the chance will be having very strong words with you about the monkeys you hired.
but back to the nice stuff-
the vast majority of people were lovely and i find it amazing having read this thread or some of it the negativity towards the people who like me had nothing better to do than actually buy a print at cost for a change. i took my laptop with me and was online and f5ing for both the online releases, both sold before i even saw a buy button(again), so i feel that alone justifies my decision to take some time off work and que. as it goes there was still a couple of places in the que some 20 hours after i got there at 8am on thursday.
it was a very cold,but strangely warming experience and i will be keeping in touch with a few people i met.
oh i didnt mention the print, BRP generally if not always produce prints of the highest quality. this is not only no exception, but it kicks the ass of any print ive seen for quailty. perfection.
i'll write about the rest of the art and the show itself when i find the most appropiate thread.

Just woken up from a good nights sleep after queuing 27 hours for the print.

I was number 23 in line and apart from freezing my nuts off during the night, I had a lovely time.

I just want to say a huge thanks to BRP for the organisation of the queue which was top notch. Having clear communication from the gallery was awesome - we knew exactly what was happening.

The atmosphere was more like a festival kinda vibe with a community feel (helped my the music, bonfire, dude with a tent and booze). It was lovely to meet some board members.

Big thanks to pyro 'i'm a fire starter' Kevin for the bonfire..it really helped.

The show was excellent and the print is absolutely stunning in person..I wasn't so sure if I could queue for so long but i'm happy I did..and am so chuffed to own the print of the image I love!

Anyone else from the opening think the print looks better than the original?!

As for the hostility on the boards from those who thought we are 'crazy', must all be 'flippers' or have 'no lives' - i'm sure there will be quite a few who will sell on ebay, but I will always treasure it especially after all that it took to get it.

Yo Slammer, ma man!! wot an amazin 30hrs we had eh? brilliant - some1 said 'forget about the cold & the queuing, once you get the print you know it'll be worth the pain, the sweat and tears. Shame we missed out on the prints but I think we can safely say we more than tried, like every1 else. Our 'small' comfort was we knew we were guaranteed the print.

Referring back to the 'ringers'. We clocked them straight away & needless to say they'll be doing it again elsewhere. It was quiet obvious they weren't there for the art. The story bout not knowing who nick was was really funny coz I witnessed it from peeping out under my duvet lol. Look on Nicks face was like 'wtf' ;D

Quit an experience .... but at least nxt time it'll be warmer lol

So in the whole 24hrs no one took ANY photos of the queue then??

dh, do you know if there are any originals left? Any idea how much the VANDALISM canvases were, the white and black ones. Love em!

Weren't those done for the LA show? I'm not sure if some of them might have been held back for the BRP show. What I do know is though is someone who's had one of them on his wall for at least a month or two (which is how long ago it is since I saw it - no idea how long it was there before that).

I'm guessing they're all sold. 'Guessing' being the operative word, mind.

there were at 6pm lots of canvases left, BRP held back most of the stuff under 20k until the night. however i dont think there is much left now. had to leave at 8pm, so not the best person to ask. sorry i cant remember the price of the Vandalism canvases. but they were great.

when I left it seemed everthing bar a £20,000 canvas had red dots ie sold.
it was a shame as there was some great stuff at the lower price range - but it went fast...

One point however..... Although the majority in the que were after the holy grail of prints some were there to purchase originals. What really pissed me off was that japanese business men and a few other fat cats seem to be let into the show 5 minutes before everyone else and sure enough the stuff i wanted and had been queing for had gone?

This was the only downside to the whole experience but to be honest spoiled it for me a bit. Whats the point in queing 24hrs and being 26th in the que if there is a damon hurst style buy up of all the art work before joe public (who is equally as loaded) have had a chance. All fat cat jumpers were welcolmed with a handshake by the gallery owner??!!

Just looking at the first picture though... was that Moona Lisa always on the green wall (pillar?) on the right of the pic or did Nick spray up the entrance area specially for the show? Also that mark at the top of the wall looks it's exactly the same shape as one of the wooden chinook/chandelier things Static put up in various spots - I assume no one in the queue pulled it down (or used it as firewood)
