Just in case anyone doesn't know who he is: A legendary figure in street art Blek Le Rat (Xavier Prou) was born in Paris in 1951. Thought by many to be the father of stencil graffiti as an art form Blek began his unique, complex and intelligent stencil works on the streets of Paris in the 1980's. Hugely influential to the present generation of street artists the importance of Blek's work should not be underestimated as this quote from Banksy suggests: 'Everything I think I've painted something slightly original, I find out that Blek Le Rat has done it as well. Only twenty years earlier...'

He's gone mental overnight around the gallery, saw 4 pastes up on the way to work this morning, the sheep, the beggar, a big Angel with wings and a Princess Di one. Cant download the pictures from my camera as no card reader May post mobile phone pics after I have had a scoot round at lunchtime.

Also bits going directly up onto the wall (which I always like) in the gallery last night, couldnt be sure if it was sprayed or pasted though.

if anyone wants to see the Blek street art.... he went out last night to do some paste-ups (shame they weren't sprays)

1) there is an angel and a princess Di on paul st, near the new POW offices.

2) there is a beggar and a sheep on the two sides of the sculpture on leonard St (I am so chuffed that blek was the first to hit it after it got completely stripped and repainted a few weeks ago - I'm amazed that not one other poster, sticker or tag is on it - it looks great with just his two pieces onit)

3) David with Gun in the traditional skanky graf area behind 'the Old Blue last' pub, on corner of Gt eastern St and King Johns Court

I picked up a Beggar print. Love it. Thought it was good value for the opening night also.

Was a good show, got a photo of the beggar outside before it must've been removed, saw the cement also!

Wasn't overly taken with anything in the show though so didn't buy, was hoping may be some older stuff but everything was '06, the large Beggar did look cool though ;D

all the orignal street pastes have gone (except david & gun)

but new ones have gone up....

1) Angel & Diana on old building, on corner of leonard St and Gt. Eastern St. A sheep is around the corner, on Gt. Eastern St

2) Beggar in an alcove towards the other end of leonard St, just past the sculpture..

3) Angel & Diana on Old Street, near Aquarium bar (opposite the fire station..)

Where do I buy Blek le Rat prints?

I really like the beggar print... not so keen on the other two

just noticed a sheep on ebay if anyone wants one. Can;t believe people are selling 5 mins after they sell out. mmm

but that's because I'm a cynical old fool ;D

it's a difficult one i know, especially when you see kids spending 10 & 20 quid on a sticker because the message resonates but the prints are way out of reach. And now we have speculators, stockbrokers and merchant bankers buying up Banksy, Dface and Blek in the hope that it will either turn a profit or offset some of the damage they inflict upon us with their bad advertising industy bollocks....a talking piece for the dinner party perhaps. It's the way of the world I guess, doesn't mean we have to like it right..........ooops,much longer response than I intended.... don't get me started !
