Just bought this Saab 900i last weekend at auction, as we needed a bigger car now we've had a baby. Only 25,000 miles on her, and the previous owner bought her new aged 67. He retired from driving this year aged 92. The Golf pales by comparison and is now up for sale. Edit. Just noticed I last posted on this thread on p6, just before I bought the golf which I'm selling, after 9 years!! Where's life gone? That is very nice. Any chance you'd be prepare to divulge how much you paid for it?

She was in the auction with a guide price of ยฃ3000- ยฃ4000. I paid the lower figure, plus a 5% buyers commission. I had in my head a figure higher than that that I'd have been prepared to pay, based on ebay listings etc, but sometimes at auction you get lucky - I only had one other person bidding against me. Seems not much money for a lot of car, esp with only 25K mileage and condition looks superb. I'd have been more than happy with how that panned out - as I guess you are.

Haha Thank you. Thats a great idea I'll use it to do my Paris charity run next week! But then I did make this which might also help. 4 electric jets on a back pack.

The fields around the outskirts used to be great for finding really big live rounds after the field was ploughed. It used to be an army airforce firing range during the war.

I made the buck for the back of the car and me and two other pattern maker guys made the moulds in high temperature fibreglass and bodywork apart from the centre cockpit supplied by another firm in pre preg carbon fibre. The Jaguar (Tom walkinshaw) team was there also assembling the car etc in another part of the building.
I got a knock on the door one day and was told by they needed someone at short notice to make the buck. They needed it done within five weeks. It was for a firm owned by someone with the initials J T. Tony Southgate designed the car and I asked for all the tech drawings and he only gave me three drawings (one across the spine, one across the rear axle, one of the dimensions of the back of the cockpit and said just work from them and fill in the spaces and i'll check with you and tell you to add a bit more here or change this or that. I made one half to get it right as per the designers wants and then made templates and made the other half to match. Basically from thick plywood, expanding foam and car body filler. Then hand sanded to perfection and finished sprayed in black furane resin and polished.
Got it done to perfection, altho the first version in British racing green had too much downforce hence the body work at the back changed later to give less.
Worked hard and got insulted by the owner of the firm J T for using so much car body filler to make the buck. Would have used less if the designer had given me all the tech drawings to work from.
Me and another guy there worked from 8am to 8am the next morning without a break to get bodywork made so the team could go testing the next day. Went home to get some sleep and didnt come in untill the morning after. the owner J T asked where me and teh other guy got too and replied if you do it again i'll get rid of you and get some P****s, they know how to work. (it went in one ear and out the other). Got all the bodywork made OK and went back to my real job of muppeting around.
Got a knock on the door by J T a few months later, "we are desperate for someone to do a one off for us again are you available" I replied no chance fucker.
The Jaguar team guys were great and professional. Tony Southgate the designer a nice guy and laid back. The owner of the firm that got the contract for the bodywork from Walkinshaw a bit of a wanker in my book. Did one job and no more for the guy.

I could tell you a few other things but not in public.
Carbon fibres is ok for super racing cars etc as throw away bodywork. A small shunt and it cracks and then not worth repairing. For road cars I thinks it's more of a sales gimmick. I did take a load of fujichrome slides of the complete build up from start to finish but had them stolen a few years later.

For road cars I thinks it's more of a sales gimmick. I did take a load of fujichrome slides of the complete build up from start to finish but had them stolen a few years later.

There were some great cars made like the GT 40 etc. Alledgedly Walkinshaw said the previous space frame model was just as competitive as this first monoque carbon fibre Jag. I could tell you a few other things but not in public. Carbon fibres is ok for super racing cars etc as throw away bodywork. A small shunt and it cracks and then not worth repairing. What do you drive? , by Coach on Jun 21, 2016 19:33:34 GMT 1, Fiat Bravo 1.4 litres of metal muscle. 130k miles on the clock. Passenger seat footwell used as a bin 'til it smells. Bodywork was good until I hit a wall a couple of weeks ago while parking. But I've convinced myself that the scrape marks look like go faster stripes. It's in and out of the garage at the moment, which is not good. Had to travel back from London with it on the back of a truck on Saturday. Our visit to Goldsmiths was fun though.
