No doubt you'll have your end of year charts up in the shop... but what have you particularly liked this year? I love Late of the Pier & Friendly Fires... can't think of TOO many other great albums, but then my memory isn't what it was.

OASIS TICKETS, by manchestermike on Oct 24, 2008 13:55:22 GMT 1, Tried on behalf of a mate for the Saturday, didn't get them. Due to how unbelievably shi te they've been the last few times I've seen them I wasn't bothered myself I much prefer smaller more intimate gigs, but as far as big outdoor jobbies go i thought they've been pretty good! I've seen them at LCCC, and city's place in recent years
I thought both LCCC and COM Stadium were utter tripe... the last very good one I went to was probably Maine Road... or Knebworth - I forget which was later

Do you think it has been a great year for music so far? Vampire Weekend had the album of the year sewn up for me in January.
Portishead and TV On The Radio's are good too, but I can't think of too many albums that have left a big impression so far. I'd like to hear the Fleet Foxes LP.
You?

This is why proper record shops are so important! What shop do you work for?

OASIS TICKETS, by chrisps303 on Oct 24, 2008 16:14:55 GMT 1, Tried to get Wemberly but spent over an hour and no joy. Got Cardiff instead - at least it's nearer to me (Bristol). Saw them in '94 funnily enough in Cardiff, best gig of my life. Seen them a few times since and nothing rivals that gig but they usually put on a damn good live show. Also Kasabian live - Get in! Best Oasis gig I went to was Knebworth. Managed to blag my way into the circle near the stage, which made all the difference. It was just a great day.
I saw them at knebworth and i was in the inner circle. Brilliant gig.

OASIS TICKETS, by mred on Oct 24, 2008 19:27:30 GMT 1, Was out in Vancouver end of August, picked up a couple of tickets on the day of the concert. Was at a ice hockey stadium, probably no more than 15k capacity and not a sell out. If you cannot get tickets in blighty have a holiday and see them aboard.
P.S. Cracking gig although they are very dysfunctional

B.................. oh please.....the single which is the best thing on there even features lryrics in the chorus that go something along the lines of a ' magical mystery '...so sad the constant referencing of the beatles by them is really sad, they are on what their 8th album? by the time the beatles were that far into their career they had made revolver (which oasis rip off to such a sad extent on this new lp you can sing the lyrics to 'she said' and 'tomorrow never knows' over the music on two of the tracks)rubber soul and delivered the white album, something that sadly oasis will never be able to do. If you look at the whole blur vs oasis thing , albarn (who i also hate) has eclipsed them musically and creatively . I am actually embarrassed for them, they really believe their own hype and bluster, record sales have fell for them constantly and consistently over the last three albums and yes they may have just sold out these gigs in record time but it is trading on past glories.
Mammal if you are about you cannot get involved in this argument as I am still scarred by the amount of Oasis you used to play
