Figure it will pay off better in the long run after 2 years when I come to sell it on as it should be worth more than the original 3G. I agree though not a huge upgrade for those already with the Iphone, but as I don't have one yet it works for me. Also doing the 30% discount through my sister.

It is really though. Like a kind of playstation you can make calls on. I've always been a phone is a phone, it needs to make calls and texts that's it, type person... however I have gone down the Blackberry route as being able to email wherever you are is a great help. I'm a big believer in Apple, and only use Macs if I can help it, but I just don't get the iPhone.
It does everything your phone can do, only much more expensive and more temperamental with a crap touch screen keyboard then has extra spangly bits you'll never use, or if you did use you'd have something already that does them... camera, iPod etc

Solar phone chargers are INCREDIBLY useful for festivals.

i always get insurance anyway as i lose phones more than anyone i know.. i think it was 7.50 not 13.. so it wasnt as if i was paying for jsut that feature..
i have lost two iphones and had one stolen, so in effect its really payed for itself..
the ATP thing works by you take your phone in, pay 29 quid and they cancel your contract.. not many people know about it and i think its a lifesaver when you dont want to be tied into a 18 monther..

Iphone 3.0 Update.......... anyone having probs???, by notworthit on Jun 19, 2009 16:39:38 GMT 1, ok, if you get a new 16gb iphone 3gs now on a ยฃ35 tariff, take out the insurance (plus the atp) that's going to run you ยฃ607.00 for 9 months after which you'll be able to get out of the contract early. You'll still have to jailbreak & unlock the phone yourself though to use it on another network (dead easy).
Other options worth looking at are to wait a week or two and get one from Apple in Hong Kong. All iphones bought from Hong Kong come unlocked out of the box (apple's way of getting them into china through the back door). The 3g phone on the hong kong apple store was ยฃ350 when it was released (the 3gs prices aren't up yet).
So Silky, It all depends on what you're planning on doing with the phone, whether you need to stay on vodaphone or not. I get no reception whatsoever from O2 so the carphone warehouse thing is a non starter for me. At the moment I've got a 1st gen unlocked phone on orange 600mins unlimited txts with free home broadband and unlimited mobile data for ยฃ35
When my contract runs out with orange I'll either renew it of switch to vodaphone, whoever will offer the best deal (always threaten to leave), get the best handset they'll give me and bang it straight on ebay. Last time i got whatever the last new sony was and got ยฃ230 for it.
