Banksy • Parliament Square • Brian Haw, by gm on Feb 22, 2006 17:23:26 GMT 1, That's the permanent "peace camp" or something, isn't it? I'm pretty sure there's somebody there all the time and, that aside, how many cameras do you reckon are permanently pointed at that particular piece of land?
I don't reckon you'd get very far.
I do reckon there's a pretty good chance they'll still be there on Sunday.

Banksy • Parliament Square • Brian Haw, by gm on Feb 22, 2006 17:33:22 GMT 1, I'd be keen to see your list.....
Oops... was that aimed at me? Sorry, wasn't ignoring you, I just seem to have not noticed it until now
I'll try to get some locations and a few more pics on to my "Around and About" post tonight. That'll give you somewhere to start, at least

On a similar note, there is one guy who started his protest opposite Downing St (i think) before a new law came into place. Therefore he, and he alone, has the right to stay there all the time.... whereas others would be causing an offence.

Banksy • Parliament Square • Brian Haw, by crack on Feb 23, 2006 13:26:09 GMT 1, The peace camp has been there since the 2nd June 2001 (so will def be there on Sunday) and the government recently introduced new legislation to prohibit protest within 1/2km of Parliament (?) with the aim of moving Brian Haw on. When it was challenged at Court it was decided that the law does not apply retrospectively and therefore they could not move Brian on!! However - for the likes of you and me our right to protest has been effectively withdrawn (sry a little political!)
He's there day in day out, all weathers. The petrol pump one is a replacement - some T*** had slashed the orginal one and looks like Banksy as placed a further one there.
Its a great spot for both pictures - theres a further one there, not sure if Banksy.
You'd be pretty stupid to try and lift it as its probably got the most cameras in London - pers think it be shame if it was nicked.

Banksy • Parliament Square • Brian Haw, by crack on Mar 1, 2006 9:53:35 GMT 1, this is it..... what do people think??
I reckon it could be though saying that there's no reference to it in any of the books/internet etc. I think its his 'style' - being subversive etc and I think I first saw it just as the new law came in and like the Kate Moss canvass I thought he'd hit the nail on the head!

Banksy • Parliament Square • Brian Haw, by crack on May 23, 2006 8:03:14 GMT 1, Just a quick update - came through Parliament Square a moment ago and the police are there and have moved the vast majority of the various pictures and stands. Both the Banksy's are not there - probably holed up in Charing X nick.
Ho hum - another nail in the coffin for democracy!!!

Brian has been protesting for over 3000 days now, you can learn more about him here www.parliament-square.org.uk/
I had wanted to do a portrait of Brian for some time, then the idea came. Hope you like it. Cheers
