Assorted early-ish Bristol stuff, by KaL976 on Sept 14, 2006 5:51:20 GMT 1, Apologies if you've seen these before, etc
Reservoir dogs/Let's go to work. On the side of LaKota. 97/98? Prior to the whole 'paint it blue' thing anyway.
Messy Bastard There's a clear line of sight all the way to the bus station from this wall & whoever owns it used to spend a fair amount of time repainting it
Tes going over the old Monkey's with carkeys in that Easton alley off St Marks Rd. mid/late 90 something.
Never saw that stencil anywhere but on what must be one of the most hit doors in town
A crop from the 'East' painting by the House of Fridge.
New bottom bank at Dame Em skatepark, not sure of the date, but He & Inkie did the side of a lorry at Glastonbury the same year using similar characters [stealth, lorry - poor shots to follow]
I think this was on some hoardings on Stokes Croft, the council grey paint is a bit of a giveaway
Bottom of Park St [from the clown skateboards thread] The Flasher Vs kid with sickle stencil was there first, the clown logo appeared later
The new Broadmead developement has removed all this from the face of the earth
White Hart, top of Park St. '99 [from the Deep & Dark flyers thread]
Came across this long before anything else - wish He'd do it as a print. [from the Deep & Dark flyers thread]

Assorted early-ish Bristol stuff, by KaL976 on Sept 16, 2006 0:22:26 GMT 1, A few more bits...
Just up from the Old E off Cheltenham Rd. Another wall that got tagged quite a lot, but also got painted over regularly.
Also by the Old E [other way] I think this same wall became BME later on, which I don't have a shot of & unless I've got the location completely wrong, this is actually someone's house, but then Montpelier's known for being fairly relaxed about that sort of thing
London, New York, Bristol. Albion Rd. Easton '97 Still there as far as I know.
Visual Warfare. with Kato. Cato St. Easton 97/98. Haven't been there in years, could still be there... anyone?
& the other way... damn van
& a closer shot. there's a tiny tag on the missile
The New Pollution. Sevier St. St Pauls. 96/97? Memorial wall for Abi RIP - untouched for the best part of 10 years, knocked down by contractors for a new flat build [apparently] 2 days ago!
Easton Rockers. opposite the House of Fridge, nr St Pauls roundabout 98?
Take the money & run...' with Inkie & Mode2. Old E/Mont clinic carpark '98 - before, during or after Walls on Fire I think.
There's all this noise but you ain't sayin nothing. with Loki. Opposite the Granary on Welshback 99/2000 - Shortly before the Severnshed exhibition.
Heh, I was living just around the corner on City rd at the time & had just stumbled outside to get some Nourishment, [Chocolate or Vanilla] & Rizla [probably] from the SuperMash & failed to notice the ladder until I came out... "That's nice dear, what is it?" I enquired of our unlikely hero "Sod off" He said, "No one had noticed me 'till you stopped to chat" You've got to laugh

Assorted early-ish Bristol stuff, by KaL976 on Sept 25, 2006 4:18:24 GMT 1, How about these, very badly scanned & shop'd beauties? [apologies to anyone on 56k]
one end. or near, st marks rd... the wall is straight, there was a van in the way. Rob did the cats bit [in case you couldn't tell] Verse, Kato & Tes appear at no extra charge
On the back of Crystal Doves in St Pauls - I think it was done on/during/for the Carnival 97/98 but I could well be wrong. Inkie, Loki & characters on far right by Rob.
edit// something odd going on with the forum codes handling of oversized images, links to the full size pics below... i98.photobucket.com/albums/l273/Kal976/eastonwallHUGE-1.jpg i98.photobucket.com/albums/l273/Kal976/sapphiresHUGE-1.jpg

Assorted early-ish Bristol stuff, by mido on Sept 25, 2006 11:34:07 GMT 1, cool stuff!
I did spot that the cats was prob banksy's bit - it does stand out as his early style- and the writing is distinctive
oooh, I was at the st.paul's carnival in 98. one of the best nights of my life. old guy openair DJ'ing in the 5 a side court at the end of grovesnor rd. just a 7" player, speakers, reverb/effects unit and some crackly old dub plates. couldn't 'mix' so would be big pregnant pause between records - or he'd just put the record on again. lo-fi genius.
also picked up a hand cut wooden clock from a rastafarian on the street, cut in the shape of the map of Ethiopia (I used to live/work in Ethiopia)

With the sad demise of the New Pollution, Cato st, Albion Rd, Stokes Croft & Park st have, as far as I'm aware, the only pieces still running. The big, [so drunk I got the A wrong] tag on the Stapelton rd/M32 bridge is still up albeit minus the Y & I imagine there are a few stencils dotted about still, but these days I couldn't tell you where

Grin Reaper / boatman on the side of the Thekla - floating club on the harbour - moored at The Grove, but you need to go the other side of the river (merchantโs Quay) to see it.
Banksy bridge - M32 - coming into Bristol there is a massive (and awful! I suspect he hung upside down to do it) Bansky tag on the railway bridge over the M32. To see it you need to go to the area around Stapleton Rd train station / path alongside the M32 (the area was being redeveloped last time I was there, but you can still see it, up a little st, opposite Berwick Rd)
Mural - Visual Warfare. Cato St. Easton - This whole area is amazing, especially the alleyway (st. Anthonyโs passage?)
A few smaller stencils left in the area as well
Well Hung Lover (my name for it) - near the bottom of Park St - opposite the end of the Council building, where park St passes over Frogmore St below.
Mild Mild West - still brilliant - can only be seen going down the hill (easy to miss otherwise) - on Stokes Croft, opposite the junction with jamaica St
Moon St - a very old kids with guns, completely with unique style banksy tag in different typeface. Might be gone soon - someone recently put a pic on flikr and basically the whole wall had been stripped back to the brick - just this bit remainedโฆ..
A faint out line of the stickman from the chasing coppers is still just visible. On the corner of the old cop shop in central Bristol - Nelson St / Silver St

I don't think it's going anywhere, the new owners of the pub it's attached to have had graf work done on the building.

Assorted early-ish Bristol stuff, by mido on Oct 16, 2006 14:45:17 GMT 1, I've organised several tours in London, and had thought about a Bristol tour, but I think it would be very difficult. I have jokingly asked if anyone had a people carrier.... ;D
Not that much to see, and spread apart....
Welsh back stuff had gone a while back I thought... and Thekla might have gone now... Obviously 'new pollution' has also gone

oooh, I was at the st.paul's carnival in 98. one of the best nights of my life. old guy openair DJ'ing in the 5 a side court at the end of grovesnor rd. just a 7" player, speakers, reverb/effects unit and some crackly old dub plates. couldn't 'mix' so would be big pregnant pause between records - or he'd just put the record on again. lo-fi genius. also picked up a hand cut wooden clock from a rastafarian on the street, cut in the shape of the map of Ethiopia (I used to live/work in Ethiopia)
I was there too! The DJ was Jah Shaka.
shaka.reggaeclub.org/
I might even have had a chat with you! Who knows? Wicked night.

Assorted early-ish Bristol stuff, by mido on Nov 7, 2006 1:30:06 GMT 1, found a few more in bristol on friday
fuck knows when I'll ever get time to add to the map though....
so.....
'Designated Picnic Area' - in a little alleyway between Shaftesbury Aveneue and Banner Rd, Montpelier/St.Paul's - this has been 'preserved' - just the wording has been kept whilst the rest of the wall has been painted...
fading 'Heavy Weaponary' - on the left of the big herbert's bakery mural on Wellington Ave, Montpelier/St.Paul's - same purple colour as the one on St.Andrew's Rd
The Thekla is back ('Thekla Social' now). Same place. Has been refitted / repainted but Reaper Boatman has been left on the hull. Looks a bit crap as it's been painted around....
'Take The Money And Run' still looks good - on a wall in the car park for Montpelier Health Centre (Bath Buildings, Montpelier)
