Clerkenwell Rd - Old School grannies covered up, by stillborncrisps on Jan 16, 2008 15:16:32 GMT 1, Just been past the Old School grannies (with ghetto blasters) on Clerkenwell Road and there's a metal 'lean-to' (for want of a better description) been built around it, with corrugated roof and everything.
There was construction workers milling about. Was on the bus so couldn't stop to spy what was going on. I will kill myself if it was him inside doing a new piece over the top!
Anyone able to go take a peek?

(it's between two big buildings). I rather think it's something to do with a new building being build on the site, which would in effect obliterate it anyway.

Clerkenwell Rd - Old School grannies covered up, by stillborncrisps on Jan 24, 2008 14:55:36 GMT 1, Update: Just been up there for a lil' nose around.
The 'roof' of the makeshift building has been sealed against the wall with lots of weather-resistant tape. I think they're trying to keep the wall dry. Also, there was a light on inside, and through a crack I could see the hand of a bloke gently working on the wall with some sort of tool - could've been a small brush or a paint scraper, but he was being very gentle and careful, as if he was restoring/repairing.
The opposite wall has been whitewashed (bye bye Obey) but on the Banksy wall I could still see someone's tag in marker, so don't think they've painted over Old Skool.
So, I'm guessing they've got someone in there restoring it, and when finished they will end up building it IN to whatever building is going to end up there - just like the current plans for Mild Mild West in Bristol becoming part of a new atrium.

Clerkenwell Rd - Old School grannies covered up, by stillborncrisps on Feb 4, 2008 21:50:08 GMT 1, The mystery continues... solid fencing has now been put up along the side of the area. A toilet cubical / port-a-cabin type 'office' has appeared!
Through a tiny gap I could just make out the face of the bloke on the far right of the piece, so I deffo don't think it's been gone over.
