But thats what street art is about  if your doing pieces onto other peoples property then you have no control or rights on what happens to it It might be cleaned off, painted over, cut out and sold, thats the right of the person who owns the wall.

Surely pest control was set up to protect and help his work gain value, rather than trying to make some of his work valueless?

Dunno, you might be right, though they don't authenticate his street work which would imply they don't want it ripped off walls and flogged, wouldnt it?

i disagree that it's worth nowt. i mean if you consider the piece to be authentic, which i don't think anyone is doubting, then you're a hypocrit if you only say it has value with the pest control authentication. Below the radar of pest control and the auction houses etc this should still hold value for many.

The producers would never ever give the corresponding item and value away on a trailer, ever.
For a start the advertisers would go nuts (no one need to watch the episode if they give away the 'reveal'), and secondly...well let just say it wouldn't happen full stop. It is a splice of items / bids from across the whole series. The ยฃ240k item probably hasn't even been shown yet - that is how TV works!
the only thing we know with confidence is that the banksy walls DOES NOT sell for ยฃ240k. not saying it isn't more, less or not at all. but not ยฃ240k!

I think the boat sailed on that one about 6 years ago...about the time when the bristol house was sold as a banksy with a house attached.
Banksy and his people have deliberately and brilliantly enacted a 10 year strategy to make his artwork hugely valuable. it now is, so there's no doubt that a 1-off street piece with as strong a prov as is possible to have is worth big money. The interesting thing will be to see if any of these dealers are prepared to stump up cold hard cash.
oh...and why IKEA didn't buy if off them and install it in the Croydon complex themselves (would have been a PR master-stroke to rival Banksy's), I will never know....
