Yes the cheaper ones are the bootlegs. Looks like two originals sold recently for £1000 and £1200

I remember there was someone in NYC who had one for around $1,000 I think when I was looking a year ago; granted the price might have changed. Found him on expressobeans.

I had my beady eyes on that one as well... ditto the lack of numbers when I messaged him.

I steared clear after I noticed the sticker on the front was smaller than all the legit photos of it I found, yet it was larger than the mini 'printed' sticker on the bootlegs, strange.

I've reluctantly decided to sell my Paris Hilton CD.

As you'll all know, Banksy went into HMV and Virgin around the UK and replaced 500 Paris Hilton CDs with his own version.  Many were destroyed once the news was out so it's not know how many remain in circulation. 

I went straight on eBay to find out whether any were listed for sale, and found one being sold by a guy who saved one from being destroyed at Virgin in Birmingham.  Ebay kept removing listings so it became difficult to find one on the secondary market.

Obviously these are difficult to verify whether they are genuine.  The way I figured was that, by buying one relatively quickly after they were released, it would be highly unlikely that someone would have had the time to create a fake. 

I decided to take a chance and bought it from the guy on 26 September 2006.  You will see one of the photos is a copy of the eBay transaction. He also sent me a business compliment slip on which we wrote information about where it came from so I would at least have something for provenance.

I subsequently discovered that there was a code number etched onto the underside of the CD.  People were initially reticent to disclose what the number was, but the information is now well and truly out so I will disclose the code: R049 1712 5155.  This is not the code on the front sticker, nor the code on the transparent plastic centre of the CD.  It is etched in tiny letters and numbers.  If you zoom in on the photo of the back of the CD you can just about make out some of the code where the white centre ends and the tracks begin.

I have never played the CD as I wanted it to be in mint condition.  

There is a small split to the plastic casing as you will see in the photographs. It is difficult to find these in perfect condition as they were destined to be destroyed.  It would be easy to replace the plastic casing as it is a generic case, but it would mean removing the sticker and replacing it on the new case.  Personally I preferred to leave it completely original.

I have no idea what this is worth so I am looking for offers.  I wouldn't let it go for less than £1,000 so please DM me if you would like to make an offer.  I'm in Bristol and would prefer cash on collection.
