Because people know who she is, and through this stunt getting in the news even more people will know who he is too. It could just as easily have been Robbie (but probably wouldn't cos Robbie's a valued customer).
And if it gives him/me/others a smile, so much the better.

according to mtv the album sold not much more than 2000 copies in the uk in the first week. therefore banksy and chums were responsible for nearly a quarter of the entire sales... nobody is interested in PH. people realise she is a vapid, clothes hanger created to fill a space in advert and tv land... risible, a joke - nobody needs an "artist" to point that out - it is common knowledge - this was all about self publicity and really no different from what paris does herself - its a media game and banksy is using it --- as an artistic or revolutionary statement it is hollow and smacks of too much money and too few ideas - so this is why the soup cans have been re-re done - to fund the propping up of PH music career...

Had he just wanted to take the piss out of Paris, as I first assumed, that would have been ok in my head. Now it's not quite so ok in my head. Considering the inner sleeve was amended, the CD completely new, and the back cover amended (I think...) and then all slid into the PH sleeve.... it's not impossible that he didn't need to buy 500 copies, but could make 499 of them.....
A couple of observations on the video....
1 - the person putting the copies into the shops, and one of the people show making the copies, has no rings...
one of the people shown making the copies has a weding ring on though  men rarely take there wedding ring off (except when on an illicit date ) so I suggest the video shows more than one person making / placing the CDs

2 - Placing 500 copies must have been very hard!! and 500 in 48 shops = an average of 10 a shop.... Think about it... how suspicious it is fiddling with CD's. I used to work at HMV and if our security guards hadn't noticed something like this, they would have been sacked!
