To be honest I guess people not being present in UK heavily all suffer that problem, same boxi does, although UK born. Just bought a few Herkut and boix bits as imo they are great artists.

Dreweatts Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by johnnyh on Oct 11, 2011 16:38:49 GMT 1, I was on a flight so missed it unfortunately there were some cracking bits in there that went for great prices for the buyer. Surprised the Banksy's did not go especially after the Bonhams madness. Donuts was at a good price and went but surprised that flying Copper or Bomb Hugger did not go. Likewise the two N Walkers were at great prices. The Schoony looked stunning. Lots of the others that were originals went for not much more than the price of a print. Yes you need to pay the auction house on top but great value.
Sorry I missed it

Fair point though but I actually think that this auction was just not promoted well enough. Even the Banksy's could not sell and he ain't finished. Not knocking the comment though as still a poor result. I would have def bought it at that price as I think a nice piece.

Nothing in the bank to spend on art at the moment, but will go to the next Dreweatts auction and see if it remains a bargain basement affair

Three years later, the auctioneer was begging someone to buy it for ยฃ2.4K. Whether you like him or not, bargains to be had or not, Nick Walker is finished. IMO and not meaning to be detrimental.
the hype couldnt mask the quality of the work forever... good on the guy for making bank while the iron was hot

Last time I wad at drew eats earlier this year/late last year was where a much larger version went off the scale as they had the phone delay cock up.
Takes two buyers minimum to make an auction if your the only one your lucky.the NW buyer was lucky as sounds like the only bidder.

Completely agree, buy what you love and assume it may not make any return for you in the future, but will give you pleasure whenever you look at it. Never buy something just because its cheap or by a certain artist etc.

Bonhams simply attracts a kind of clientele that dreweatts doesn't.

Huuuum not sure... There is a gap of quality between the Nick Walker's pieces at this auction and any of his TMA. Also maybe four Nick Walker at one auction was too much.

Dont forget the BUYERS premium of 26% so they actually sold for ยฃ3276 (donut) and ยฃ3780 (Colour Trolleys)

Dreweatts Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by balibob on Nov 23, 2011 11:40:50 GMT 1, It does look a bit like a christmas prezzie sale, but some nice pieces and it will be interesting to see what prices are achieved. Must admit to be more than a little interested in what the top end Warhol and Lichtenstein pieces go for, I've never seen such a high estimate for a Lichtenstein piece before and Lenin is one of my fav's.

Are these tea leaves that I'm supposed to decipher? Asked for a more thorough report, but nothing as of yet. Can't believe they'd expect bidders who can't see it in person plunk down their hard earned cash based on that information. Is this typical?
