Dreweatts Art Auctions π¬π§, by skelly on Feb 22, 2009 22:53:48 GMT 1, I always wonder if Neate's pieces won't last that long physically. Quite a bit of mixed media paints on shabby old cardboard, it would be a shame to see them fall apart

Banksy's Rude Copper raising cash for charity
One of the first commercial prints produced by Banksy is going on show in an exhibition to raise money for the Prince's Trust.
Rude Copper was originally produced in an unsigned edition but a hand-finished and signed run of about 30 prints was produced in 2002. One of these is in the exhibition which opens in the Ultralounge gallery at Selfridges today.
The Bristol street artist is among dozens of artists who started work on the fringes of the law but whose work now stands to make a fortune for the royal charity. Other works in the show are by artists including Faile, Adam Neate, D*Face and Martha Cooper.
The exhibition, called Urban Art, is being presented alongside ArtCore, a visual history of Acid House. Pieces will be auctioned next Thursday. Rude Copper has an estimate of Β£8,000 to Β£12,000.
Anyone wishing to bid for the auction needs to register online at www.dnfa.com. The money raised will help young people into work.

I remember hearing that for his gallery pieces he treats the cardboard somehow for longevity.

Dreweatts Art Auctions π¬π§, by pathfinda on Feb 23, 2009 21:05:43 GMT 1, i'd hope that Neate at least painted them white first, that usually stops the paint sucking in.. Herakuts cardboard pieces seem to hold their color ok.
the photos on the pdf are pretty small and hard to get a feel for, i like this one by pam glew, (which took a bit of finding on the internet)

Dreweatts Art Auctions π¬π§, by davidsmith on Feb 24, 2009 19:54:57 GMT 1, Evening, Hi I am new to the forum (thank you for authorising my account admins).
I would just like to share some photographs I took during the evening of the 19th at the event before I was requested not to take any pictures.......
Luckily I managed to get around a bit before that happened though.
If anybody wishes to transfer any of the images directly in to this thread please feel free. I have the full size images available if anyone should wish for a copy just pm me (feel FREE to do what you like with them).
Just like to add I have really enjoyed reading through the forum the past few months. Hopefully I can contribute a little here and there.
Enough waffle here are the pictures:

Dreweatts Art Auctions π¬π§, by They call me Stephen on Feb 25, 2009 1:01:08 GMT 1, Whatβs the story with these hand finished/sprayed rude coppers, they're from before the pow run right??
Are they really only from an edition of 8? I only ask because wasn't there one in an auction recently/currently?? To have a quarter of this run up for sale in such a short period seems strange, especially with the current financial situation. Would have thought these all would have been secure in collections or damaged/lost what with there age/release date etc
edit: the other hand finished rude copper is up for sale in dreweatts...d'oh! says it's numbered 15 though...anyone have any better idea on final edition size?

Thats "Bad" as in "Good" is it?, i hope so , the markets could do with some positivity, i hope its a success anyhow (even though Mary didnt send me an invite to the preview). Dont forget the 20% on top of hammer and if bidding online add another 3%.

If bidding online the final hammer price will be + 27% - atleast based on my purchase from them in June. (Hammer price was Β£600, final price Β£762).

Dreweatts Art Auctions π¬π§, by duke on Feb 25, 2009 13:56:44 GMT 1, Was at the preview on Thursday, was an ok affair, the DJ was fantastic but it felt a bit corporate, the lights were too bright, wasn't 'street enough' liked Matt Small, D Face Princes Trust piece was amazing in the flesh, all layers and frayed, K-Guy on metal was stunning, cherub with gun - in God we Trust, never seen it before, seems affordable, can't beat Banksy Kate Moss wouldn't mind that alas my budget just isn't there. Loads of really good stuff, some seen before but good to see again. Can't beat seeing originals up close, will be along on Thursday with my bidding paddle.
