1ST Adam Neate piece in Sothebys, by guest2 on Oct 31, 2007 22:33:41 GMT 1, This piece is wicked. Artistically I feel Neate is on the same level as Micallef and Faile. It's an exciting time to see all the artists we feel so passionately about get the recognition they deserve.
Can't pidgeon hole either with Neate. faile are legends, mica's a play boy and Neate is a painter. If I had to have only one piece of art? then make mine a neate....although i do love Faile!

1ST Adam Neate piece in Sothebys, by skanky on Oct 31, 2007 23:02:38 GMT 1, I think it was 30k + vat at the show and was stunning in the flesh, difficult to predict the final value.

1ST Adam Neate piece in Sothebys, by manty on Oct 31, 2007 23:03:42 GMT 1, i'm going to bid and win it :-) unless of course someone sells me theirs first
It needs to be like the Bonhams Neate deck auction where no one else bids though :-)

There is no chance of that happening, I know someone who is prepared to pay a sustantial amount to own a Neate gallery piece and I am sure there are many more like that to. If you look at how many pieces that Adam has done and bear in mind that most people who are holding Adam are firmly not letting go of him, then that means that there is virtually nil supply. Given that Paul has a list as long as his and Fionas arm's for people who want the work, then there is only going to be one outcome on the day my friends!

1ST Adam Neate piece in Sothebys, by worlddomination on Nov 5, 2007 20:58:33 GMT 1, With Adam painting round about 20 - 25 pieces on average for his shows apparently there is over a 3 year waiting list for original work! over 75 people wanting doesn't seem that unrealistic I suppose. As for the value of this piece at auction, considering it sold in elms for round about 30k Id be expecting some where between 50 - 60k at sothebys.
Been speaking to Sothebys today and they can't believe the amount of interest they have had in this piece before the catalogue is even released. Lets see what happens on the day.

1ST Adam Neate piece in Sothebys, by Rude Copper on Nov 5, 2007 21:11:53 GMT 1, i think 60k is a good call, if paul sold that today, it would be about 40k, so 47k with vat, so you have to expect it to go for more than that, but theres a bit of me that thinks there'll be a lot of people in that room who are desperate to own a neate, and are way down the waiting list, & will think about jumping the q,& landing one relatively early, (pre empting an art stampede, a la banksy), its a very very strong piece, & it would'nt suprise me if it got up to 80-85........seriously.

1ST Adam Neate piece in Sothebys, by worlddomination on Nov 5, 2007 21:20:32 GMT 1, It's a difficult call to guess this one, was speaking to Paul & Fiona and there is a genuine queue of people dying to own a Neate and there are only about 60ish gallery pieces of the same quality in existence, so who knows

1ST Adam Neate piece in Sothebys, by dotdot on Nov 5, 2007 21:47:51 GMT 1, Fine piece - will go for a mall fortune. The subject itself will be discussed too - which will of course make the occasion all the more focussed.
Work like this of a topical nature only goes to underline the vision this guy posesses.
..
good job it's not the morph bloke in the bottle eh

He's still working on yours World Domination but here are a few of the studies he's done so far. I've told him to go for the midlle right as he really has captured your whole being and it also looks just like your passport photo. Funny that huh?

1ST Adam Neate piece in Sothebys, by ABC on Nov 5, 2007 23:39:29 GMT 1, This piece is wicked. Artistically I feel Neate is on the same level as Micallef and Faile. It's an exciting time to see all the artists we feel so passionately about get the recognition they deserve. Same level??? LOL - personally I think Neate blows them both away. Different strokes for different folks as they say though. It's good we are not all completely herd-like and don't rate art/artists the same - otherwise a lot of these discussions would be boring.
If you had said that last year I would have said "no way" but....after the last show, I agree with RK, Neate is a genius and his work has so much more movement than most contemporary artists nowadays.
