There's nothing really stopping me doing these in public spaces but the main factor against is as it's on a single layer thick for max transparency it's totally susceptible to being destroyed in process by the wind or a strong breeze. I did one at the Brighton fringe a few months back but that was just on a single layer of depth.
I also prefer the abandoned spaces as they lend themselves to what I'm after and make for a good final photo.
But I will be doing some of these soon in public in just over a week but that'll be in an a very interesting abandoned spot in eastern europe and then I fly from there to Sweden to do a live installation in a night club.

Did this series of a figure backflipping down the stairs the other week at Fort Punto Christa in an abandonded fortress in Croatia as part of the Outlook Festival.
This was a last minute idea as the original illusions on perspex I planned couldn't be done in for access reasons so I came up quickly with this spraypainted on pool lining plastic and placed on the battlements stairs.
It was lit at night so the shadows of figures were cast onto the wall but I haven't got a photo of it at night.
Painted this as a little bonus on a bit of heavy duty stage floor plastic I found at Outlook Festival:
I didn't intend it to be this dark as the sketch was quite beautiful but I think I was picking up on all the recent turmoil and attrocities comitted in the Serbo-Croatian war.
There's quite often something horrific lurking just below the thin veneer of beauty.
slackthuset door:
Painted this last week at Slakthuset club an ex slaughterhouse in Stockholm Sweden.
It's painted on the original perspex slaughterhouse doors.
This is half of a slaughter house door I painted live in Slakhthuset.
It's quickly painted in aubergine spraypaint and white marker and then scratched with my knife.
This is one of my favourite pieces of recent times as it looked so different when seen from outside with the light behind that made her look sultry and then seen from the other side she looked angry and then looked completely different again seen like this when the doors were opened into the toilets.

I did the other one live on the opposite doors to balance it out.

I'll dig out the concept sketches and designs for the illusions I was supposed to paint in Croatia as they would have been quite grand if they'd got the final go ahead.
