The London Police ๐ฌ๐ง TLP โข Street Artists , by bennyhedgehog on Sept 20, 2008 13:32:04 GMT 1, So... you're living rent free at your parent's house while working and earning... what a scumbag, they must be so proud of you. And don't think for a single second it is about whether they might need your contribution or not, it's about the attitude of being a leeching little weasel. Pay your own way - you talk the talk, now walk the walk tory boy, stump up - it'll give you (and them) a little positive pride (you've got plenty of the negative sort already) and perspective to begin with and start you on your track to adulthood... who knows it might even make you a nicer person?
You've got so much to look forward to...

The London Police ๐ฌ๐ง TLP โข Street Artists , by Coach on Sept 20, 2008 22:13:47 GMT 1, Tell me if I'm wrong, but where a gallery (or anyone for that matter) is putting up something of theirs for sale and donating the proceeds to charity, it's kinda harsh to then pull them up about how it's done? I was keeping an eye on the tlp piece too, but fair play to Opus, if they've sold it for a good price, from which the charity will benifit. Peace. c

The London Police ๐ฌ๐ง TLP โข Street Artists , by mcnuts on Sept 21, 2008 9:23:37 GMT 1, come on, is anyone seriously surprised opus did this? Totally in-line with their antics on here. The constantly flog things ( i cant critique the art for fear of reprisal) and clog up the boards. Now they come on with a (smart business move in the form of a) charity auction - create hype, interest and pull it early. it says more than I need to.

For my part, Dodge... FX has, in the past, made an awful lot of boastful and detrimental posts to others, particularly in their auctions and trade posts.
Sorry if some of this sounds a little Fred Kite... FX makes himself out to be a big city "playa" - the validity of which I neither discredit nor particularly care about. The existence of such people is an inevitability to a certain extent under the current society we all live in, however the assumption by them and attitude of them that their success is due to anything other than blind, dumb luck shows their extreme arrogance, not that this arrogance isnt displayed in virtually every word they write anyway.
It is also, in no small way in my opinion (and this is only my opinion) greatly at odds with the content of and meaning behind much of the work this forum is about. It does make me wonder why they are here in the first place?
So, an opportunity to bring them down a peg or two and at the same time, (probably futile, I know!) possibly give them food for thought just cannot be passed up without comment. It's only a bit of light relief and surely no more than FX would (should) expect to receive in his worklife and brush off without a second thought. I find it very amusing that he still lives with his folks... it shows a lack of consideration about those that live so close to him that is really very, very comical even if tinged with a little tragedy - but the best comedy often is, isnt it. A child, for some parents, really is forever. There is, of course, also the irony that he is probably renting some of these properties out to people who are moving out of the parental home for the first time into rented housing because they cannot afford the price of a house due to the inflated housing market, inflated, of course by buy-to-let prospectors such as himself - who is living in his parent's spare bedroom.
I did call him a "scumbag" and a "leeching little weasel" and I would do the same to every other person I know when told they are proud and happy to live "for nothing" in their parent's house whilst being successfully employed... a tithe is due, whether prince or pauper... spare the rod and all that. I have a much younger brother in his early twenties who lives at home with our mum, he isnt well paid by any means and yet pays his way - you stop being a child at 16, I can understand another couple of years support if necessary for educational purposes but as soon as you start bringing in money, any money - the first person who gets a cut is the household purse, not you - and this really isnt based on the parents NEEDING a contribution, it's all about RESPECT.
The nastiest individual post on this thread, imho is this one:
Yes i live with my folks and yes i OWN PERSONALLY property. Why move out and pay a mortgage whenim living at home for nothing..Its not a hard one to work out is it. when im 46 i'll move out
It's just not nasty to any forum member or anyone likely to read the post... merely an innocent though tragically complicit third party. Like I said, his parents would be proud - from what I've witnessed of their work, anyway.
Surely the amount of people posting and the fact that he is still here, still posting and hasnt been banned shows that we arent a particularly nasty bunch, doesnt it?
And come on... those photography skills are criminal, even more so when you want to show them off on a forum concerning art.

You are incorrect, I dont rent to students..There shit tenants. Im a party animal and i know what i get upto and im sure uni students are the same if not worst. Also, What your saying is..Just because im in the position to buy property and because i live at home with my parents i shouldnt be allowed? Ive worked hard for what ive got but from your responce you dispise people like me. you are obviously in a industry/business which is the complete opposite to me.

The nastiest individual post on this thread, imho is this one: Yes i live with my folks and yes i OWN PERSONALLY property. Why move out and pay a mortgage whenim living at home for nothing..Its not a hard one to work out is it. when im 46 i'll move out It's just not nasty to any forum member or anyone likely to read the post... merely an innocent though tragically complicit third party. Quality post btw ;D

The London Police ๐ฌ๐ง TLP โข Street Artists , by bennyhedgehog on Sept 23, 2008 16:59:02 GMT 1, Im happy to accept banter on the board as well as people are willing to accept banter of myself. But with regards to this "There is, of course, also the irony that he is probably renting some of these properties out to people who are moving out of the parental home for the first time into rented housing because they cannot afford the price of a house due to the inflated housing market, inflated, of course by buy-to-let prospectors such as himself - who is living in his parent's spare bedroom" You are incorrect, I dont rent to students..There s**t tenants.
Nah... said nothing of the sort... don't mention students one single time. I said people who are moving out for the first time from the parental home, looking to buy a property. I also didnt say you shouldnt be allowed to do it, I merely pointed out it was ironic.
"Ive worked hard for what ive got"... this betrays you and highlights the fundamental core of what I see to be the problem with you, as portrayed in this forum. No doubt I'm pissing in the wind, but hey-ho... In essence: an adherence to and self-congratulatory agreement with, though misguided it may be, the principle of meritocracy. That is a belief, in you, shown time and time again that feels you can denigrate others because they do not appear to have the external material success that you feel you have. When in fact, as mentioned, the real reason behind any success you may have had is blind, dumb luck and we all know luck goes around and comes around in many many differing forms... you will learn this, though sadly (I expect) through quite tough experiences later in life rather than through a solid and sound, balanced upbringing.
I've said before now on this forum that I am currently a software developer (about a dozen years in it now, previously various other trades, mostly manual labour of one form or another - you know, actual "work done" from a physical perspective) and I work for a multitude of clients in all manner of trades: banking, industry, healthcare - all of which are varying but well paid and it affords me quite a nice lifestyle... however I am under no illusion whatsoever that I happen to be extremely lucky to be able to do a job in a sector that requires little effort and strain on my talents, is fairly robust currently against the varying market forces and pays well. I know full well that I do not get paid a day's pay for a day's work (there's a clue to my underlying beliefs, if you needed one, that will probably pass you by) but given the system we all live in it is the easiest and best paid job availble to someone with my talents. To think that I, intrinsically, deserve the remuniation I get any more than, say, a teacher, doctor, farmer, policeman, soldier and on and on merely because someone else is willing to pay that much is folly - don't entertain it for a single moment, it is merely luck, for me, and bad luck for those teachers, doctors and farmers etc. - ask Hirst after his recent auction if he deserved the cash he made due to his hard work, ask Beckham after 90 minutes on the pitch, ask Soros after last week's crash and boom... everyone knows they don't deserve it, do I begrudge them getting it... on balance yes a little, but personally under the system we live in, no... I can't really - like I say, it is inevitable to a certain degree.
I could bring the nature of geography and history into it, at least 99% of your luck is due to your "birthrite" which is probably why you ignore it so easily and willingly (another irony - actually not an irony at all but anyway: "Standing on the Shoulders of Giants" is Newton's quote on the edge of the ยฃ2 coin... the phrase is meant for scientific pursuit and development, however really, when you think about it... go on, think about it... hint: it is on the side of a ยฃ2 coin, which is our most recent monetary issue). Tell me, how many people live on a dollar a day in this world? (Or do we use a euro a day as the guide these days? hmmm??) Do any of them work any less hard than you? Is their effort commensurate with their pay when compared to yours? Answer that with extreme care.
Feel lucky for what you have, but don't ever feel deserving of it. There are very few truly deserving people in the west and property developer is way down towards the bottom of the other list. You are praying to the wrong god if you do believe you are deserving.
So next time you feel you want to say "Ive worked hard for what ive got"... remember, you havent, not really. You might have put yourself out there, taken a punt or two or had to think hard every now and then, you might even have had to stay up late a couple of nights in a row thinking about various things... but worked hard? No, you haven't... rarely does that phrase get used by any one who has had to work hard, you'd know what it really means if you had done.

Ahh... fuck it, I tried to stay away from the rest of the post, but just can't resist, I'm a sucker for a basket case...
I don't despise you, per se, to a certain degree property developers are a necessity with an expanding and ever-changing population.
I despise the self-congratulatory attitude you portray, which I would expect to be toned down a great deal when confronted in a face-to-face with harsh reality and home truths. The internet is a great thing to hide behind, likewise I have the experience to know that I would tone it down to you, too, however the fundamentals behind my discourse would be the same. I've mentioned the sectors I work in and have come across some real types... we are talking flaming ferraris et al, and at their core they are not bad people - if I believed you were, I wouldnt be responding at all, believe me. They tend to just go about their business and get caught up in a continually reinforcing maelstrom of self-belief that makes them appear to be bad people.
If anything, I despise the system that allows them to continue unchecked. Money, you will learn, is very much an ethereal concept... it comes and goes into your life, if you put too much faith into it, as I say, you are praying to the wrong god... now I don't want to sound all evangelical as, personally, religion is right up there for me with money... but this lesson is a harsh one to learn especially when you've already put all those eggs in that basket. That rug (metaphor-mixing-is-us!) can and will be pulled out from underneath you without so much as a bye or leave and then where are you? I have lived, within my 40-ish years, in quite a few differing scenarios - we've had house staff with drivers, maids and butlers (seriously) and we've lived on council estates and barrack housing - my father used to trade commodities between europe and the middle east, and it is all basically easy come and easy go... the only reals involved are the people and relationships in that situation - everything else is mere frippery.
Think on this... that sentence I said a couple of posts up that I thought was the nastiest individual post on this thread... print it out and show it to your mum or dad... and ask them their opinion on it... don't tell them you wrote it... just ask for their opinion on the person who did... go on, I dare you - are you party animal enough for the consequences?

The London Police ๐ฌ๐ง TLP โข Street Artists , by fatherxmas on Sept 23, 2008 18:40:35 GMT 1, After reading what you have said i totally agree. I have it so easy. I bet everything ive done in the passed 5ish years was a peice of cake. No sacrifices made to make my business build from strength to strength. I think your right, im going to get a normal job, work for someone else, sell the car and the houses and claim the rock 'n' roll Get a council house paid for and hopefulyl with the bills going up Mr bown could contribute to this.
If you FUCKING think for once ive had a walk in the park i think firstly you shoudl wake up and smell the coffee DICKHEAD The only c**t who have it easy in this bloody soft country is thoes TOSSERS on the rock 'N' roll. They get a weekly allowance however small, a house to rest there tired body after a hrd day infront of the 50" plasma tv which is on tick from currys.
Now, really who has the easy life?
Dont get me wrong, I love money. Because from my understanding with no money you cant buy the nice things in life. IMO I might sound like a cock fro saying this but i dont want to be another person walking the streets, I want people to say look what he started with and look at him now. From gettin told by a cunt in school i'll be nothing in life to what i have now. And in such short time. If anything i thank her for saying that, Cos if she didnt i would prob have graduated from uni next year with a worthless degree and after all that time just doing a 9-5
