Ian Francis Pics -- BMG Show, by oneeye on Aug 14, 2007 17:11:09 GMT 1, Looks like I've gotta get in line for a canvas as well. Would love to own one of these. I think his future is going to be very bright.

I get the impression that these probably don't translate too well as prints. Would be interested to hear from someone who has an Ian Francis print.

I had a Red Chopper and it was one of the best things I owned. Lovely colours, thick paper, a huge 70 x 70cm. It would have looked mint in a white box frame.
However, Red Chopper and Devouring Bunny are the only two images that have ever appealed to me. His new stuff doesn't really float my boat. Someone mentioned the type of illustrative art you find in pubs and I can't get away from that idea

Ian Francis Pics -- BMG Show, by paulah on Aug 14, 2007 17:40:58 GMT 1, I have the Girl waiting print - it's really nice nice heavy paper. I had it framed and wasn't too sure about it - but have decided it's the frame that doesn't quite work - not the print! I also bought a litho - can't remember where - but they were only £11 to £15 - stuck it in a Habitat frame and it looks really nice - one of my favourites, actually I think the new work is really fantastic. Was thinking of getting a Suzy Creamcheese print too - but can't really afford any more art for a bit....

Yeah, this guy is insanely talented but sometimes when I look at his stuff I think it might be better suited for record albumn art or illustrative art? Kind of like Donwood or Reggie Pedro?
You never really know where these people will wind up down the road. You need talent, plus usually a lot of luck, timing and that certain inexplainable something that is missing in the art world to truly hit it big. He is off to a nice start though.
But still I wouldn't mind owning one of those canvases but it is a lot of money to spend so I'm not that upset I missed out...

I was really excited about seeing his new stuff, but for me, it's not as mind blowing as I expected. Nice images and beautiful colours, but they lack something that I have see in Devouring Bunny for example. I don't know what that something is - depth, drama, darkness Dunno.
Just my opinion and I am sure loads of people will love em

Ian Francis Pics -- BMG Show, by peggysue on Aug 14, 2007 18:04:04 GMT 1, Francis is a standout star. I find that his skill as an artist goes far beyond those who are mentioned on this forum. In years to come when all the "followers" have fallen there will only be a handful of guys still standing and I believe that Ian will be one of them. Mic and Neate will obviously be leading the charge.
Can't wait for Ian to have his next show on UK soil...mark my words and watch what happens.

I'm not going to argue with that. I think he has the potential to go very far athlough I don't think his recent stuff has filled his full potential. I do however think this is stunning:
BTW Did you ever get a canvass? You have been trying for ages ;D
