Bloomsbury Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by numusic on Oct 16, 2007 20:25:21 GMT 1, Are you kidding me? His post was unprovoked and personal. And like I need to be baby sat by the "moderator" about what I'm allowed to talk about? And excuse me for not being pulled into a childish debate about who has better contributions about art. I don't play that. And anyway if you'll look through my posts like Stuey supposedly did you'd notice I have mentioned a few other people if you really do care.
I really do care.. honestly.. do you like Swoon, beatiful lines and those papercuts.. amazing
but seriously mate, what do you own ? Banksy's or other stuff..

I say this would be a fitting tribute to our man Banksy. A little bit of operation Mayhem might be fun.

Bloomsbury Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by Pattycakes on Oct 16, 2007 21:41:54 GMT 1, Bloomsbury are an auctioneers in Mayfair behind Sotheby's, they are a kind of boutique auctioneers if that makes sense, small operation, I can't imagine more than about 30 or so people there, they specialize in Prints, works on Paper and Books (so their website says!) They've got an office in Rome and one in New York. I've bought a few things from them.

Bloomsbury Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by Jonny Breaks on Nov 20, 2007 13:59:03 GMT 1, Has anyone bid/bought anything from Bloomsbury before?
Just wondered how tricky the process was as i assume its not just as simple as sending an email with a bid.
Also im i right in thinking that all winning bid are subject to 19% premium and then 17.5% VAT?
Cheers!

"Bids You can leave an absentee bid for an item by email, telephone, fax or post. It is also possible to arrange live telephonebidding. If instructed we will execute bids and advise intending purchasers. This service is free. Lots will always be bought as cheaply as is allowed by other bids and such reserves as are on our books. Bids are made subject to the Terms and Conditions of sale. If your bid is successful a premium of 19% (on the first ยฃ150,000 of a single lot and 10% thereafter) will be added to the hammer price.
Payment Purchases must be paid for before they can be released. Payments can be made in cash, by cheque in sterling drawn on a UK bank, by direct wire transfer in sterling, by credit card (Visa and Mastercard only), for which there is a 3% surcharge added to the invoice total, and by UK debit card or Maestro, for which there is no surcharge. For first time buyers cheques must be cleared before purchases can be released.
VAT (Value Added Tax) Zero-rated items such as books, unframed maps and albums are not subject to VAT on the buyer's premium. Eligible items such as manuscripts, prints, photographs, drawings, framed maps, paintings, pens and other objects are subject to VAT on the buyer's premium as part of the auctioneers margin scheme at a rate of 17.5%. This will be invoiced at a rate inclusive of premium and VAT. Seller's commission will also be invoiced at a VAT inclusive rate in the case of the sale of eligible items. Lots which are daggered (โ ) in the catalogue are subject to VAT on the hammer price as well as the buyerโs premium. Lots marked with an asterisk (*) have been imported from outside the EU to be sold at auction under temporary importation, and therefore the buyer must pay the import VAT at a rate of 5% on both the hammer price and buyer's premium."
I'm sure a couple of members have dealt with them before, sorry but the names escape me right now. I'm sure they will chime in later
