Miss bugs profile on Ink-D
Born in Bristol in 1979 but founded in early 2007, the MissBugs partnership consists of two people - boy and girl - Miss & Bugs - Bugs being the creative force and Miss being the muse and trusty lookout. MissBugs draws inspiration from television, cartoons, news events, celebrities and religion. Continuously exploring these areas in his work; at times taking a dark and humorous approach, mixing religion with pornography or looking at the art world with a sometime cynical eye. His use of iconic symbols as a source of inspiration with imagery from popular culture such as Bugs Bunny, is used and remixed to represent a personal ideal or cultural stance or just sometime simple nostalgia for a man in a red cape and pants on the outside of his blue leggings.

:-)
I dont think they are overpriced at sub ยฃ100 with small editions and hand finished.
Hype wise, I can never get my head around this hype thing, I dont understand how it starts with certain artists, and not others.
Bottom line for me is, If I like it and can afford it, I buy it, If i dont or cant then..............
The exception are people like Miss Bugs who I got into when they did a freebee for the first 5 people to PM them for a free Print last year.
I won a WAOD and have been collecting anything from them since because I was over the moon with the gesture and the work that had gone into the image, and have been with every other release
To be honest though, I would like the hype to stop so I can carry on collecting their stuff. The ebay prices are just mad
So if all of you could just go away and pick on another artist that would be cool
Ta very much

Who is Miss Bugs?, by doublehelix on Apr 11, 2008 17:27:49 GMT 1, I guess the anonymous nature of bugs is part of the cause of the growing hype. If you leave a gap in information speculation becomes inevitable, hence we hear that bugs is actually another successful artist in his super-hero costume, which may or may not be true. I certainly don't know if it's true and if people do know they are keeping mum about it. As a strategy anonymity certainly helped the myth of Banksy. People love secret knowledge.

Who is Miss Bugs?, by sausageboonwee on Apr 11, 2008 18:20:45 GMT 1, There's no way there is a big name artist behind Miss Bugs. I think it is misleading that it has been suggested by some of the galleries selling the work. If you like the art then that's cool but don't buy if you think someone big's behind it. It's just the latest piece of forum hype. As they say, don't believe the hype.

jee-f**kin-sus you're kidding.
the reason everyone has flopped their cocks out is the firstly the quality of the art i.e. A1
the small editions and the fact it is hand finshed and each print is unique .
the consistantly good strong images
everyone wants to be a part of the next big thing
the complete overpriced s**te coming out from POW for well over a year now
and lastly after a few months of slow burning interest a diamond carrot a/p sold on ebay for well over a grand this generated interest and several threads about miss bugs were posted on the forums which attracted i dare say a few flippers (although no evidence of that so far) and a few people who hadn't heard of miss bugs before.
it's good stuff and I enjoy looking at it.

Eh?
I dont believe its Banksy, insect, Hirst or anyone already 'Big' in the art game..
I believe its a an older artist ( along with someone else) who learnt from mistakes 1st time around & are now just giving the market what it wants.
2008 was always going to be the year for originals & hand finished prints and Miss bugs pretty much nails both.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, so just out of interest what do you see in this work?
Because I see the same old rehashed and recycled cliches that I see in 90% of Banksy-influenced 'street art'. In addition, the deliberate Chinese whisper campaign regarding the identity of the duo is laughable. To resort to such tactics is desperate.

So it's transmogrified from Banksy buying a miss bugs to Banksy being miss bugs, or was the rumor already in place before Mr B's purchase?
I heard a rumor that there's a rumor going around...

Who is Miss Bugs?, by imbue on Apr 11, 2008 19:55:56 GMT 1, I can pretty much confirm that MissBugs is not already a big name artist. An art dealer from a big shop/gallery who has been buying my work said to me...
"If you have any other images or ideas you want me to take a look at just bring them in. Thats how MissBuggs started, he just showed me some stuff he was unsure of and it started from there"
That was a rough quote that was said to me last week.
Another person from the same place said...
"MissBugs is a guy just like you, he has a regular job and is doing art in his spare time"
imbue.

well i've been gazing at this sort of art for a few years now and i don't pretend to be an expert - i wouldn't want to be - and i have never seen anything that is that is like it, completely original in my mind but i wouldn't give a toss if it was unoriginal - D*face is just re-hashing old ideas but the fact is he is doing far better than anyone else ever did and i like hiswork.
