could the subject matter of this piece be an allusion to Banksy destroying his subject (MBW) by pulling him up at the roots by exposing truths? Could this be an allusion to the fact that film may be uprooting our concept of urban art aesthetic by showing how crassly formulaic the recipe of success is... Namely the list Banksy gave MBW of how to be a successful artist?
What does the uprooting motif foreshadow about the nature of this film?

My guess is that he most likely wasn't that angry at him. You know, when you have a friend or acquaintance that you seldom hang out with. The guy that you say "dude is kind of a douchebag" when you think of him. That's probably what Shep thinks of MBW. Not pissed at him, kind of "whatever" with him. After all, imitation is the highest form of flattery.
I was thinking along similar lines too. When B got hold of the footage and (I'm guessing) realised it was pure Spinal Tap, you can't blame him for wanting to edit it into a comedy.
