To be honest, I am amazed that some forum members are still willing to support this artist and Gallery after the Multiple IP issue and show fiasco - but it's your money...

Who has ordered the new HUSH print, by jusdeep on Jun 1, 2008 12:43:24 GMT 1, I'm sure the print is going to be amazing and have full confidence in Hush doing a great job if Graf Geish is anything to go by. I ordered one of the advance prints on the night as I just missed out on getting a Geisha after queuing for most of the afternoon. Yes, I was pissed off with the way the night was run and the misinformation the gallery put forward, but I'm getting a little peeved with the way the artists are getting flak. Doesn't look like this whole fiasco is doing either artist any harm and definitely don't see any reason why this will effect their popularity or sales. And I thought the whole IP issue had been resolved or is that still on going?

I'm not being ridiculous and it is FAR from ironed out. Are you aware that the 3 additional accounts that Hush was accused of having have not posted or come online since the day Hush left? Coincidence? And the gallery have not come close to giving a well deserved apology for posting false info and wasting forum members time and money by advertising items for sale at a preview that turned out to have already been sold.
I can only speak for myself but I feel that when an artist/gallery blatantly tries to exploit people in this way I will no longer do business with them. Integrity is important to me. How others react is up to them - like I said before it's their money.
And as far as the art goes - well personally don't think it's that great either - again only my opinion.

If someone runs a whole herd of sock puppets it's still not going to make me buy an image I don't like - and those who are influenced that easily shouldn't be buying. Instead they should be educating themselves until they understand what they like and not just following the herd to the slaughter.
Personally I like Hush's work but if people feel otherwise for whatever reason that's fine by me in fact I encourage it because it makes my future buying easier. I just wish more people would flip their GGs.

Who has ordered the new HUSH print, by Winter on Jun 1, 2008 22:59:28 GMT 1, You only way you can buy art without seeing it is for potential investment purposes. Saying it is along the same lines but a Samurai is a bit vague. There should be an image at least if you're expected to part with hard earned cash. Surely buying art is about the love of a piece not a name (or hype). The Samurai might look like Ted Bovis and have his winkle on display.

I don't understand why you quoted me and then said that ah - as my comment and yours seem to bear no relation to each other.
Mine was about the integrity of the artist and the actions of the gallery and yours was about how you are not affected by hype.
Were you implying that you think that I am one of those people that are "influenced easily and shouldn't be buying art"? If so, I can't see how you inferred that from the content of my post and I would ask you to reread what I wrote as it would appear you completely misunderstood me.

Who has ordered the new HUSH print, by Harveyn on Jun 1, 2008 23:01:14 GMT 1, I must admit that paying money in advance for a piece of art that has not been produced does seem a little ridiculous. Personally I like Hush's work and would consider adding an original to my collection but I am 100% sure I would not not pay for something that I had not viewed in advance.
I do believe that the errors of overselling the prints by Hush have been explained but the apologizes have been slightly weak in terms of explanation. That said it was Opus's first show and I do believe that lessons will be learnt. I think that both artist(s) and gallery need to accept that prints should have been held back for sale on the night as advertised. A simple statement saying that this was an error would suffice.
With all that said I think Opus Underground are an exciting and energetic gallery that are well suited to represent street art. I also believe that Hush and Copyright are two artists that have the ability to grow and develop their talents. Both should be commended for their first major exhibitions.

Who has ordered the new HUSH print, by Heavyconsumer on Jun 1, 2008 23:24:52 GMT 1, Loucastle, you seem to be someone who might have an agenda of his own. It seems you won't accept people criticizing Hush for recent events... Why is that? There is a difference between "ironed out" and brushed under the carpet. I haven't criticized Hush, as it seems that his lack of self-representation and Opus' refusal to address the issue say it all really!
It SHOULD be about the art, which incidentally I love (very sad to miss out on a chance of getting GG). Sadly, integrity has been called into question and that is an issue for most people in ANY business.

Who has ordered the new HUSH print, by Martin Whatson on Jun 1, 2008 23:34:46 GMT 1, All theese Hush/Opus/Copyright discussions shows only what I have been thinking the whole time. People care more about prints and value than the art exhibited at the Gallery.
Yes its maybe wrong to hype your own stuff, and yes it might not be good to sell out most of the prints before the opening. But I think many other galleries and exhibitions are almost sold out before the opening night. A good thing would be to leave everything available untill the opening so everyone has a fair chance!?
Im just so tired of all the whining. Go to the exhibitions to look at art, not to buy prints!

Lou - Thats you opinion but I do not think I can be accused of being easily swayed. I think the lack of sincere apology for selling the advertised number of prints prior to the advertised release is wrong. I also think the question of integrity goes way beyond this incident and needs to be addressed by the forum administration and members. Ground rules are required and open policing of the situation admired. Anything else or less will result in the continued undermining of this art platform.
I think a separate thread to discuss this matter be a would be a great idea.

I thought that you were happy with the explanation given by Opus, according to one of your earlier posts, as for a sincere apology, how far do you want them to go? the bit about "question of integrity goes way beyond this incident" I am at a loss to who's integrity is being called into question here, perhaps some enlightenment is needed on this one by your good self. Also "way beyond this incident" has this happened before? Heavyconsumer, yes I have an agenda, perhaps not what you may think though, I am just tired of all the negativity which is being posted constantly, bringing this forum and it's members down, of which there are a number of very valued people.
