took on a comission for ten paintings last march for a bar, grill and nightclub which was being renovated. not my usual style of work admittedly but it was interesting to work on a different tip. here's the results:
couple of huge pollock-esque pieces biggest was about 250 cm tall
heres one of two in a parla- esque style
the rest were based on the works of richter, here's one!
couple of in situ shots:
lastly a comission from this january ( more in my own style!)

(if its as hot and sunny as last year no promises! it should be good!) i'll update the thread with more info as and when. i am currently trying to secure funding for paint, travel expenses etc. and get space for a pop up gallery or two.

i also got the backgrounds done for two more while in studio last night, i'll get some pics up once they are finished... probably going to be some more head studies on a different subject. i am really just trying to get a feel for the pallet knives again, all i will say is its not like riding a bike, for me anyway, i made a right mess of the minotaur three or four times before i got a look that i was happy with!

Lovin that minotaur piece, id guess it would be more difficult working with shades of blk/white and no colour? thanks for the kind words, its an interesting question, i like many other artists have a real love of monochrome imagery, it is a difficult one to try describe why in all honesty. it's just a feeling. i guess i find it fairly easy due to the fact that i enjoy working in b&w. getting back to grips with painting using a knife was much more difficult! |
