Also, saying that ยฃ10.5k is good because a gallery sold one for ยฃ11k is silly since this is a forum that prides itself in not ripping each other off with gallery prices, and galleries take commission out of the sale price.

Understood, mate. But, arguably, the "value" of a piece is supported by auction results as to what a buyer paid and not what the seller received. So, I wouldn't call ยฃ11K "gallery pricing" as that figure is supported by what a seller actually paid at an actual auction and not simply what a gallery was asking for. We all know that anyone (or any gallery) can ask whatever price they want for a piece but that doesn't necessarily mean that the piece will achieve such a result. In this instance, we have an actual sale at ยฃ11K to the buyer and not just an asking price that may or may not have come to fruition. Just my 2 cents
