Andipa Gallery - Banksy Show - 23rd April 2009, by lee3 on May 12, 2009 16:06:30 GMT 1, I don't have one and I've considered making a move on one more times than I can count. But, I do believe that one day those London, NY, Bristol canvases will be looked back upon as highly desirable and important. I adore their raw nature with the crude legs, weaponary spelling, the fact that he replaced Paris with Bristol and the barcode too. It was obviously a joke at the time but in hindsight the artist may be surprised at how correct he was to highlight Bristol.
However today the contemporary auctions kick into full gear. If price were no matter and I could pick one lot from each of the evening sales, here would be my choices (dare to dream):

Andipa Gallery - Banksy Show - 23rd April 2009, by adam on May 21, 2009 16:48:44 GMT 1, I went to this and was impressed by the selection, I picked up a catalogue and had a chat with the owner. He said the canvases were starting at ยฃ40k and most of them were owned by him! The Hopper Nighthawks pastiche was huge - about 10ft long, I asked how much - ยฃ1m !?!?!? Had not been sold yet (last day of show) and he said this one was being sold on behalf of a client.
Question for you experts - does banksy do one-off commissions? I thought not and my suspicion was that banksy was the "client" and he was trying to cash in and make a tidy sum a la Damien Hirst (and fair play to him of he is)

I enjoyed this show. I understood some of the antipathy towards it. Bloody posh gallery. Not authorised. Secondary sales (I understand). But there were some fine pieces there, and it was a fun day out with the (then) kids.

Andipa Gallery - Banksy Show - 23rd April 2009, by bob60 on Aug 16, 2020 20:50:41 GMT 1, I attended this show. I remember they had a small โpileโ of unsigned Grannies prints for sale at ยฃ1100 or ยฃ1200, which at the time was expensive. Whilst I was chatting with the owner of the gallery this very posh old lady asked him to put one aside for her. She was obviously a friend of his or lived local in one of the fantastic streets.

Andipa Gallery - Banksy Show - 23rd April 2009, by dotdot on Aug 16, 2020 23:33:12 GMT 1, iirc they had a browser of unsigned works at the front of the gallery/shop. including some LA prints.. my other half on a lunch break visit overheard a chap buying a few with a black credit card.
The "kids with guns" in the front window was a nice touch , thinking back.
