How was Applause Originally Released?, by jnschicago on Sept 18, 2008 19:53:02 GMT 1, Can someone please explain how Applause was originally released? Some were signed, some were not. Some were sold at Santas Ghetto, some were sold online, some were sold in LA, etc. I'm a bit confused. Help?

How was Applause Originally Released?, by mose on Sept 18, 2008 20:41:19 GMT 1, don't forget the 6 signed printer's proofs of the LA version that were originally sold as part of complete Barely Legal PP sets by Modern Multiples.....
They were not sold on line save for 1 complete Barely Legal set that was originally sold via Ebay auction....

How was Applause Originally Released?, by icky on Sept 18, 2008 20:50:41 GMT 1, Let's see if I can get this right.
First 100 unsigned (#51-150 or something like that) were released at Barely Legal in LA sept '06.
These were printed in LA and differ in contrast and detail from the rest of the Applause edition. (banksyforum.proboards82.com/index.cgi?board=2006applause&action=display&thread=14889)
There were also 6 (?) sets of all LA prints (Morons, Applause, Grannies, Capitalism, Sale Ends Today, Trollies) released outside the edition as printers proof (in LA).
Then POW released the rest (400 unsigned + 150 signed for a total edition = 500+150=650) in nov '06. None were released at the Ghetto '06 to my knowledge.
The above info also applies for the rest of the original LA prints except for the POW release dates and details.
The LA editions differed more or less between the US / UK editions. These are the bigger differences: Grannies: slightly different shade of pink Morons: picture frame in gold (LA) vs auction numbers in green (pow) Trollies: cream background and club (LA) vs tomahawk (pow) (banksyforum.proboards82.com/index.cgi?board=2006trolleyhunters&action=display&thread=17429)
Sale Ends & Capitalism still remain to be released by POW.
Morons Sepia and Trolleys Colour were only released by POW and are not part of the same editions as the above.
Oops, this grew a bit from what you asked, sorry!

Is that not always the case. Top stakeholders get a crack at the first few of the run. Think its a great idea for hard work done. Must be a right hassle smoking all that hash at the POW office. I jest. Top print and god I wish I could have made the show.

Please, if not already in the works, a book detailing information about the various print editions, AP's, source imagery, the work process, etc. would be very much appreciated.
