This drop will sell out after the time limit expires and the total number of editions depends on how many are acquired during this set time. After the launch, the prints will be produced, signed, numbered and hand finished by the artist. Each edition is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity specifying the final edition size.
The first Vhils Open Edition is now available online! โBurstโ is created through a process where bleach is manually poured over each print and burning acid applied to Quink ink, revealing a different part of what lies beneath and making each edition completely unique. The last step, a burst executed with an extinguisher, takes us back to Vhilsโ roots in graffiti, creating a connection with the artistโs early body of work.
Inspired by the idea of etching through the different strata of the cityscape, going beyond what the naked eye can see of our urban environment, this edition is a reminder of the arbitrary ways in which our identities can be shaped by the environment that surrounds us. In this sense, each โBurstโ edition represents a possibility of our own selves, mirrored through the uniqueness of each print, which is itself its own universe.

I think (most of) his prints are not reflecting his talent! ("Core" is an outstanding print).
I am surprised VHILS/his team are not making more releases with 3D effects.
The best he did in the past (imho):
"Palimpset Monography"
"To have or to be"
"Visual Agnosia 01/02"
The release he did with Felipe Pantone studio on wood is also excellent.
This is much more reflecting his work compared to print.
Anyway, I am sure it will still be a success with many people buying it, but it could be much better.

You also have to consider screenprinting and many other printing formats are fundamentally cutting away material to create negative space and layers. Granted, he should never put out a Gicleรฉ. |
